  • Comments: This was a really nice, well-organized race (as the 39-page athlete note attests). There were tons of volunteers who were very enthusiastic. There were plenty of water stations on the run course and they did not skimp on water, Gatorade or ice - a very welcome thing on such a devastatingly hot day.

  • Comments: This was a great race for my first REAL tri. So why did I rate it high? It seemed great to me and I heard multiple people talking about how great this was compared to other races.

  • Comments: Good race! 10th annual race, really nice swim and bike course and a fast run course. Lots of shade and great swag. Full sized high quality backpack was bigger and nicer than the ones I got at IMC and IMLP. Cool awards even though I didn't get one.

  • Comments: I would have enjoyed this race more if I had actually trained. I can't blame the organizers though. It was a great event and their race kicked my ass something good. Probably won't be able to do next year but will consider it in the future.

  • Comments: Dale does a great job with this race which is why I keep coming back. Not to mention it raises money for the Make a wish foundation. It is also close to me and I ride here frequently. If you are looking for a good home town race that still has a big turn out, this is a great choice!

  • Comments: This was an overall average race. I wouldn't recommend nor deter anyone from this race......there are way too many over-inflated positive comments. The area you enter and exit the water is extremely treacherous. The bike course distance was off by several miles and the road was extremely treacherous (tons of extremely small bumps) except for the overcrowded breakdown lane and the running route was way too thin and overcrowded.

  • Comments: Race overall is fantastic - nice course, very well organized, lots of staff, good post-race spread, entertainment and awards ceremony. One area on the bike that could have used a sign or volunteer - on the portion in the park on way back to marina, there is one area where the road appears to go straight but actually turns left - straight takes you in to a parking lot. I had taken note of this driving in the day before, but saw a racer in front of me go into the lot and turn around. As awesome as the beer glass for a podium finish is, I would probably prefer a medal :-)

  • Comments: What a great event. I chose it based on previous reviews from BT site. Did not disappoint. Every good comment made about the race is right on. Some volunteers approached me after race just to ask what I thought, what I liked and what they could improve on. I couldn't thank them enough. These people were up since god knows when just to help out. Would for sure do this race again

  • Comments: I was looking forward to the chicken fingers, I guess I gotta finish faster to get them. Dale put on a great race this year. 2nd year doing Steelman (Sprint '09) and he's a very generous guy. I think 1000 athletes is the perfect amount of people for the venue. Had lots of fun with friends and family and look forward to doing the race again next year and getting to the chicken fingers.
