Pre-race routine:

Arrive at race site at 5:30. Set up transition and take the trolley over to the swim start. I consumed one gel about 20 minutes before the race start.

only wear one swimcap, the swimcap underneath caused a headache because of the pressure.

The headwind killed my average and I tried to make some of it up with the tailwind, but I simply lost too much time during the first 70 miles.

Took the first lap just right at 2:12, then the fatigue sat in for the second lap. Second lap time was 2:29. Still, I was very pleased with the run time. With that being my first full I did not know what to expect with the run.

Great race overall. I was very worried about how we would get all of our bags during and after the race, but the volunteers did a great job helping us.

Course: Very tough first 36 miles. Headwinds of 20 mph and gusts close to 30 mph. Rain subsided around the 35-40 mile mark, however the headwind stayed with us for the first 72 miles. After that it was smooth sailing with the tailwind heading back to the battleship.
