Swim
Comments: Cool swim. Lots of fun looking back while breathing trying to time the swell in order to site. Start was very easy compared to IMTX. One of my favorite moments during Ironman is when the bar fight starts to chill and folks get into a rhythm. All you hear is this surreal quiet broken up by the splash of the stroke and kick of the folks around you. What would you do differently?: It's all good. Transition 1
Comments: Huge thanks to the volunteers. What would you do differently?: It's all good. Bike
Comments: First 40 miles were a lot of fun. Then it started getting warm. Then it kinda sucked but was still good to go. Saw a wreck coming off the bridge. Saw another guy with his frame over his shoulder carrying his wheels with all kinds of road rash half-way back on 20 by the gas station. And the saw a guy go ass over apple cart around mile 105. Stayed with this guy until the police arrived. He seemed pretty beat up. Stopped twice to throw some stuff on the package. Damn sand. First time Justin passed me. Second time Linda passed me. Both yelled are you ok. Good to have friends around when sand is grinding away. What would you do differently?: Not sign up for an Ironman. Transition 2
Comments: Huge thanks to the volunteers. What would you do differently?: nada Run
Comments: started off around 10:15. felt great. no stopping for cuts or blood. i'm gonna run this thing. no. Stomach shut down at 3.5 or so. At about mile 14 I was finally able to accept IMTX. I didn't stop smiling the rest of the way. Peter in the BVI kit.. I hope Santa brings you something awesome!!! Thanks for the cola advice at a time when I couldn't think to straight. Big thanks to David for catching my fat ass!!!! What would you do differently?: This... Post race
Warm down: Event comments: It's not the training, the race, the plan, failure to abide by the plan... its all of it. You test yourself against yourself. And at the end of the day you're a better person because of it. Ironman Last updated: 2011-11-06 12:00 AM

Ironman is really cool as long as you don't take yourself seriously. And it's much easier the second time around. In fact, I'll probably qualify next time.
Rocked trick-or-treating at some outdoor mall with the kiddos. I dressed up as a guy racing Ironman in a couple days. My costume really sucked.
checked out the gear.
wait, what.
anyways,
Group swim Thursday. Great to meet a bunch of folks from the IM Forum.
Peeps swim Friday.. what up!?!
Awesome better half who has dealt with my training antics got the kiddos dressed.
Then she ripped one like she always does...
Walked down to transition with Linda. Met up with Texas.
Talked shit to the Canadians with a Canadian flag strapped to a hockey stick. Seriously, what do these Trevor's think when packing.. bike (check) wetsuit (check) nutrition (check) running shoes (check) hockey stick (check) new roll of electric tape (check) flag (check). OK lets go to America.
MC says about 5000 times that all athletes must chip in at the corral entrance. I chip in and walk down to the water. Linda walks up from the side and says do I need to chip in over there. aaahhhhh. nah, he's just saying that to make us do 140.65.
Tell the folks to my right and left good luck.
Game on.
