  • Comments: Don't drink orange juice on the bike. If you throw up get an IV, it makes recovery so much nicer. and $75 for a 1 hour massage was one of the best decisions ever. My wife is the real hero as best sherpa in the land.

  • Comments: Thoroughly enjoyed this race. The community was very supportive. If I ever do another full, it will be Florida. I got a massage at the Expo area on Sunday (the day after the race) another another on Monday at a hotel spa about 3 miles away (Sherpa and I had planned a spa day to relax, knowing I wouldn't feel like doing much). I truly believe that with my coach's training and those 2 post race massages, it why I felt almost back to normal when we got home on Tuesday. It was amazing to see the change in the town in the days after the race. We stayed until Tuesday. While there were still quite a few athletes around on Sunday and Monday, Tuesday was a ghost town. Everything was cleaned up and there was almost no evidence that a race was even held there. The only thing left was the large dumpster in the transition area for the garbage. Everything else had been hauled off. Overall, loved Panama City Beach, the course, the locals, the volunteers and the experience.

  • Comments: This was a really well run race, and the spectators on the run made it really fun. I didn't do as well as I wanted, but the atmosphere made it worth it.

  • Comments: Overall this was a fun race and I really enjoyed things. I would do it again, but only after I get a few other ones done that I'd like to do. The volunteers were awesome, as always, and I enjoyed the "town" as race-cation location.

  • Comments: This is a GREAT event. Even though the run didn't go my way, it was still a great experience. Well organized, well laid out, well staffed and run. I highly recommend it for anyone that's willing to put the training in.

  • Comments: Overall a good course and was happy with the volunteers this year and their helpfulness. Water conditions and weather conditions and be variable from year to year. Fast course if properly trained. Was in the middle of a move from Philly to Chicago so didn't have a lot of time to train for this one. Unfortunately, couldn't get my run special needs bag back so I lost a new pair of Hoka sneakers and my floppy Ironman hat!

  • Comments: My first DNF comes with obvious disappointment and heartbreak. Swim cancelled due to high winds and rip current so that started the day off on the wrong foot. I will be back in 2015 to conquer this race!

  • Comments: Was not very impressed by this years finisher medal or tshirt. They both look like a small run medal and shirt. Volunteers were awesome! As for the swim...Well I believe that WTC made the right call. There was no that they could keep everyone safe. I was really hoping that I was gonna kill the swim and better my last IM time by 30 min. Dotti was again a phenominal training partner! Would not have done another IM if it wasnt for her pushing me.

  • Comments: I really wanted a sub-12 hour finish in this one. But, once the swim was canceled, I made the decision to just enjoy the day. I was not worried about any time in particular at that point. In my mind, I still had some unfinished business since the swim was canceled. In retrospect, that was probably the best thing to happen to me! I absolutely had a ball. I never felt the tired feeling I felt I was sure to experience! Mentally, this was not a difficult race...and I attribute that to my training and mental approach to the day. I felt pretty confident coming into the race and I think that helped me tremendously. The volunteers throughout the day were just crazy helpful. To my family...I just cannot express how much I appreciate your support over the past year. My on-site supporters were awesome and exceeded even the dreams I had going into the race about how your support would make me feel. Those who asked me about how training was going over the months....thank you! Those who

  • Comments: I only rated it average because the swim was cancelled. The weather in PCB can be unpredictable. The water was like glass for two days pre-race. I think, in general, the weather is unpredictable everywhere! This city really embraced Ironman and did a great job with aid stations and support. I would go back in the future! Loved the run course and all the people!

  • Comments: First time the IMFL swim had ever been canceled, but I guess that's the risk of an ocean swim. The volunteers were great, and WTC puts on a good show. I would like to come back and try this one again, to complete the full event one year. But I'm signed up for Louisville in 2015.

  • Comments: This was my first Ironman and I thought it was great. I had no clue how I would do so I was happy even though I was bummed about the swim. I wanted to do one and be done but it looks like I need to do another. Not doing the swim does not sit right with me. Feel weird saying I am an Ironman. Feel like it's not really official.

  • Comments: Disappointing & humblling. Frustrating. Clearly , I missed something in training..I felt capable of running at a reasonable pace ..but my gI system would have none of it..the kiss of death..Maintaining forward motion required all I could muster..and brain clearly wasn't on all cylinders to troubleshoot the problem either..Takeaways- choose to focus on the SUCCESS of the swim..the reasonable bike..and the challenge ahead to sort out fueling/hydrating for the marathon....

  • Comments: The volunteers were awesome! I took all my own gatoraide for the bike and the run. That worked out perfect. I made two bottles of double strength for the bike and diluted with course water - worked. For the last 1/2 of the run I had two bottles of double strength and only used one of them. I lost two bottles when I sat down one time to work on shoe. If I ever have something like that again I should look for medical aide at aide station. Some moleskin would have made the whole thing a lot better I think.

  • Comments: Overall, I am really happy with my preparation and my performance. While my back gave me fits, my legs were strong throughout. I never felt like they were weakening. I had a slight adjustment in nutrition on the bike, but relying almost entirely on liquids worked well for me. Going in, I considered my best case scenario to be a 15:30, with my realistic pace at 16:00. I was able to execute the plan I went into the water with, despite the 22+ minutes I gave up at the end. 36 months ago, I was a full-fledged couch potato. I started a C25K plan hoping to get to the point where I could run an occasional 5K again. The photo of me in the red shirt was taken in November 2011 at my first 5K after I started running again. Two years later in November 2013 I became an Ironman.
