Pre-race routine:

Got there early ate Cliff bar, walked around and set-up transition area.
Event warmup:

Getting into my "a bit too small" wetsuit! LOL
Swim
  • 40m 54s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

Decent swim, I don't get to train in a wetsuit so this was literally the second time I've swam in one. The first was my first race.
What would you do differently?:

Get a better fitting wetsuit and actually train in the pool more than 4 or 5 times prior to the race.
Transition 1
  • 06m 7s
Comments:

I was all set to jump on and get into my shoes. Didn't pay close enough attention to the fact that this start is UPHILL, so I couldn't keep any momentum. I ended up stopping getting into my shoes and going again. Lesson learned pay attention to the start, if you won't be able to get into the shoes while mounted don't try.
What would you do differently?:

Put shoes on in transition area and jump on bike.
Bike
  • 3h 40m 17s
  • 56 miles
  • 15.25 mile/hr
Comments:

Again, I only hit <40% of my training so I took it easy and made sure my legs would function for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Train, Train, Train. I only did one 60miler prior to the race.
Transition 2
  • 04m 37s
Comments:

Actually pretty good transition, I did talk with my wife a bit more than I probably should have and made a porta potty stop.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Run
  • 2h 30m 53s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 11m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

Not bad for the amount of training I did.
What would you do differently?:

Train
Post race
Warm down:

Collapse! Kidding, wobbled over to the awards and sat down. Saw the studs get their awards. Went a got a beer.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I only hit maybe 30% of my training goals. Lots of excuses, but bottom line was I wasn't as prepared as I wanted to be. That said, I'm happy with my results and want to try again. I just wish I could find a good training partner out in the middle of the desert here.

Event comments:

There were lots of drink stations, however a couple ran out of water or gatorade late in the race. They did make a concerted effort to restock them and on the way down to the finish they were all attended and stocked with water.
THANKS to the many volunteers for sitting through the 102 degree heat!!!
