  • Comments: This is a very well run race. It started on time, and the aid stations were well placed. The volunteers did a great job. Rage was my first triathlon ever (2 years ago), and it seemed like the amenities have just gotten worse and worse. The first year, they had a massage tent, along with other vendors (kind of like a mini expo). They had as much gatorade and food as you wanted. I raced rage last year and was fortunate enough to make it to the podium, and I got an additional medal. This year, I placed first in my AG, and they gave me a cheapo certificate of achievement in a frame from Walmart...

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: There were lots of drink stations, however a couple ran out of water or gatorade late in the race. They did make a concerted effort to restock them and on the way down to the finish they were all attended and stocked with water. THANKS to the many volunteers for sitting through the 102 degree heat!!!

  • Comments: Here is how I REALLY feel about the race: This was the early season race I was trying to 'peak' for (other than Alcatraz). I was really looking good based on my recent sprint results. This is the FIRST race I ever did, and I wanted to see my improvements. Then it happened - the motorcycle crash. I ended up injuring my leg a bit in the wreck which kept me from working out to my full potential the last several weeks. I also took a mini vacation, which side lined me for a bit as well. I have to admit, the leg was causing NO problems during the race. The pain is just about gone and the bruising has vanished (I'm about 90%). So I can't use that as an excuse. But the missed training probably hurt a bit. The whole accident sort of took it out of me mentally. Before that, I had the confidence that I was going to do great. But after? I was just going to see how well I could do - just 'see'... I almost considered making it an enjoyable training day. But I came to race, and

  • Comments: This was their first year doing a half and it needs work for sure but it was a decent race with an race director who really cares about making the race better. This is the toughest half-iron I have done but I wouldn't want them to change it. I think I could do better given better decision making but probably couldn't cut more than maybe a half-hour off my time.

  • Comments: This was my third race but a completely new course so there were some different challenges that I experienced. I need more practice swimming in very cold water so that I don't feel so clausterphobic and constricted. Once I got into the deeper water, it was warmer and that feeling went away. As I approached the shore, the water was definitely colder and I could feel that constricted feeling coming back.

  • Comments: A couple other things to add: My goal was to break 6:35 and qualify for the Halfmax. I would have come close, but even taking out the mistakes and mechanical problems, I would have been 12 minutes short or so. the other way to qualify is be in the top 1/3 of my AG. Just missed that as well even without the problems. I was still VERY happy to break the 7 hour mark and set a PR. It would have been closer to 6:45 without the issues. My wife bought me a present! The night before the race, she presented me with some Oakley bike/run sunglasses. She picked the "LiveStrong" version because she knows my racing colors are yellow! She SAYS that she did this on her own and never noticed that I have been oggling them in the store a half dozen times! Since the HIM took longer than the Sprint and Oly. Most of the post race activities where over when I finished! I also had to get a Large finisher's t-shirt because they were out of the XL when I was done. The staff felt bad since I

  • Comments: Not much at the post race. They had the massage table, and some hamburgers. No vendor tents. Maybe due to the wind? Plus, they had vendors at the packet pick-up yesterday. Like the free t-shirt. BBSC always does a nice job.

  • Comments: They weren't ready to go after the swim was canceled. I expected more stuff to happen after the race. Not sure if this was normal or if the MTB races I've done happened to have more.

  • Comments: I feel like if the race had included the swim it would have ran smoothly. But when the swim was cancelled it was obvious that the organizers had no contingency plans. It didn't matter to me, there was no way this could have made me more nervous. I would race with these organizers again.

  • Comments: Even thoguh the swin was cancelled I think it went well. A bit of confusion on what to do when the swim was cancelled, but that would be expected. Decide that the engine is much more important than the equipment. I would definitely do it again.

  • Comments: Rage in the Dage is my first triathlon ever. It has been a 8 month oddesy involving learning to swim, losing almost 40 pounds and proving that with hard work anything can be done. As long as I crossed the finish line it would've been a great race. Along the way I have found a new hobby/sport/joy/release and it is a fun and engaging activity that I look forard to introducing to my son and daughter when they are old enough.
