Swim
Comments: Started swim well. Got in middle on the right very close to buoy. Drafted for as long as I could hang on. Lots of people caught me. What would you do differently?: Getting ready to take some private swimming lessons. My technique really needs to improve. Transition 1
Comments: It was a long way from the water to transition. All things considered, this was a pretty good transition for me. What would you do differently?: Just keep practicing. Bike
Comments: I really like this bike course. The hills were challenging because they were short and steep. I really feel like riding hills earlier in the week helped me to attack them a little better. I was pleased with my bike split. My left knee started to hurt right below and outside of the kneecap the last few miles of the bike segment. This carried over to my run. What would you do differently?: Just keep practicing. Transition 2
Comments: Rack was a long way from the bike in. This was again a pretty good transition for me. I was really thirsty and did take time to put my Amphipod on, What would you do differently?: Just keep practicing. Run
Comments: Run was hot. Stopped at every aid station and also carried my own bottle of water. Alternated Gatorade and water. Cooled my core by pouring water over myself at every aid station Had to walk a lot because my left knee really started to hurt. What would you do differently?: Practice more. Train more. My training was light for this race. Post race
Warm down: Walked around the expo. Drank a full bottle of Gatorade and almost a full bottle of water. Had a banana. Still felt nauseous. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat and under training. Event comments: I'm really spoiled by the High Five races. This race was not very organized. They seemed short on volunteers and some of the volunteers didn't seem to understand their jobs. Transition closing was confusing. There was no special needs table at the swim out for glasses, medical devices, etc. Our swim wave was delayed to allow people to spread out in the water. I didn't stay for the after events, so no comment on that. Last updated: 2011-11-20 12:00 AM

Got up at 4. Had coffee and bagel. Loaded car, picked up Krystan to take her to work and drove to Barking Hound Village. Walked to transition. Set up area. Had a Clif bar.
Walked around, watched the pros and paratriathletes start. Used the porta potty several times. Felt a little nauseous. Did some windmills. Got in the water and swam to the start buoys. Waited for the gun to go off.
