Swim
Comments: I had a lot of eager swimmers grab my ankles or try to climb over. One overzealous fellow/or gal was halway up my back when I let fly a kick. I connected very hard, probably in the chest. I got hit here and there a few times but all in all was okay. The right eye of my goggle was leaking so that navigation was a bit more difficult. What would you do differently?: Get a new pair of goggles. Transition 1
Comments: I took my time because I new that I had another 6 hours of cycling and running to go. Cleaned off my feet, put on my socks and shoes and walked out the t-zone. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I think that I did well. Bike
Comments: The course was out towards the north, the direction that the wind was coming from so that part was a bit more difficult. I stopped at the eats area to pick up cookies, Gatorade, water and gel each time I finished one of my 6 loops of this course. I am glad that I did because my energy levels were good and I was fully hydrated. What would you do differently?: I think that I will have an extra bottle cage installed on my bike. That or a rear seat bottle holder. Transition 2
Comments: Again I took my time, walking in the transition area. Racked my bike, took off helmet and shoes, emptied my pockets and put on my running shoes. I had to go to the go-hut and then returned to put my odometer, which I had taken off the bike, in my helmet. What would you do differently?: Leave the odometer on the bike. Run
Comments: I felt like everyone in the run was passing me but I kept slogging away. My pace was really off. Even though I fueled up at each aid staion, every 1.9kms, I just could not generate any amount of speed. My HR was steady between 141/145 so I knew that I could keep going, no problem. What would you do differently?: Look into getting an orthotic for my right foot. My two middle toes felt strained in the second half of this run. Post race
Warm down: Walked around for a bit and had a hamburger. What limited your ability to perform faster: The fact that I do not run all that fast. Event comments: This is a very well organized race. This event will definitely become my "A" race next season. Last updated: 2006-05-01 12:00 AM

Woke up at 6:30, got my gear ready, had a coffee and left. I biked to the tri site, which is only about 11kms away. I racked my bike and orgnized my gear for the race.
I had a small black coffees and headed to the marking area. My brother JP, who was doing the sprint tri, marked me. We watched the women and there were lots of very attractive and athletic women there!!!! Now that warmed me up ... :)
