Swim
Comments: This was a solid swim for me as the swim is not my strong sport. It was the time I was aiming for. I felt comfortable the whole time. I would have liked to draft better, but I every time I got on someone's feet I felt like I was slowing down. What would you do differently?: Draft better. Try to push a little bit harder. Transition 1
Comments: There were wetsuit strippers which was nice. What would you do differently?: It was cold and wet, so I took the time to put full gloves on. My hands were wet, so this took longer than I planned. I should have had a towel more readily available. Bike
Comments: I was having some issues with my bento box on the back of my Speed Concept. I also had some brake rubbing, so I had to stop three times during the ride to make adjustments. Considering that and the difficulty of the course, I was pleased with my time. I don't really look at myself as a climber, so I looked at this as a good challenge for me. Transition 2
Comments: I racked my bike, grabbed my shoes in my hands, and ran out of transition. I did run in the wrong direction at first (toward bike exit) but then I remembered and quickly turned the other way. I ran without shoes until I got to the first aid station just outside transition. I stopped there to dump water on my feet to wash all the mud off from transition. I didn't want to run with all that junk in my shoes. Run
Comments: I was really happy with my run. This is the area I focused on the most over the winter and I really improved. I took 13 minutes off my run time from Rhode Island last year and that was after a more strenuous bike. I paced myself fairly well and pulled back a bit at the beginning in order to try to maintain a consistent pace throughout. What would you do differently?: I might have been able to open it up a mile or two sooner, but really I think I hit this run just about right. I stopped once to pee. If I could learn how to pee my shorts while I'm running I could save a little more time. Post race
Warm down: Stand and talk to friends and family. Don't puke. What limited your ability to perform faster: I set a PR on a really difficult 70.3 course. Overall I am really happy. If I didn't have the bike issues, I would've saved a couple of minutes, but at the end of the day I'm very happy with how this went. Event comments: This was an extremely well organized event. Considering all the rain and bad weather, the workers and volunteers did a great job of adjusting to make it work. There were plenty of volunteers and the police presence on the roads was incredible. I was extremely impressed at how smooth the whole thing went. Thanks to everyone who put this race on and made it so successful. Last updated: 2011-12-13 12:00 AM

I got there early and found one of the extra racks they set up because my spot on the rack was totaly under water. I went about my normal routine of setting up my bike and gear, hitting the bathroom, and walking around to stay relaxed.
Swam for about 30 seconds in the water before the start.
