Pre-race routine:

Friday morning, ran the run ciurse with my sis. The trip out to Cohasset was for a family visit with a race thrown in. Friday evening, met up with Mike_D from BT and his family for pizza at the beach. We got rained out so we all moved over to my sister's house and had a good time. It's always good meeting fellow BTers and fun racing with friends. Saturday morning, rode the bike course with Mike, Jonathan, and Laurie. Saturday night was a cookout then early to bed.

Tried something new on race day. Got up at 4 am, ate breakfast, did my business and went back to bed until 5:30. Got up, more business, then packed up to head to the race site that was only four miles away. This approach seemed to cut out several porta-potty trips.
Event warmup:

Jogged about a half mile. Swam enough to get that lactic acid feeling in my triceps and push through it.
Swim
  • 10m 34s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 24s / 100 yards
Comments:

It was a little choppier for the race than it was in warmup the day before. I swallowed three or four full mouthfuls of water but didn't panic or stop swimming. For once I was in the top half of the swim so while I'm still slow, I think I'm improving. Time included running up the beach a couple hundred yards.
Transition 1
  • 01m 44s
Comments:

My goal in T1 is under 2 minutes, so I'm happy with it.
Bike
  • 35m 35s
  • 12 miles
  • 20.23 mile/hr
Comments:

Borrowed a bike from a LBS and brought my pedals and saddle. The bike shop g.uys were really cool and let me borrow a Speciallized Tarmac. It's nicer then my normal bike :-). If you are in Boston, check out the Bike Barn in Whitman.

Anyway, I had no cadence or speed sensor and no aero bars. The bike shop guys did a nice job fitting me on the bike though and I was very comfortable. I passed a ton of people on the bike and had a blast doing it. The course was hilly and technical.
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

I shoot for under a minute in T2. Transposition went well, I think it was just a long run to my rack.
Run
  • 27m 20s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt pretty good coming off the bike. My goal was just to run as hard as I could. Given the hills, I'm happy with my time.
Post race
Warm down:

Had a couple waters and visited with family.

Event comments:

Well run race with lots of communication leading up to the race which was nice, specially for out of towers.
