Swim
  • 12m 57s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

Stomach didn't feel great toward the end of the swim - may have taken in a bit of salt water. Also, need to remember a gel pack 20 minutes before the swim - left it in my sneakers!
Transition 1
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

Work on coordination getting on the bike! Getting shoes into cleats.
Bike
  • 32m 39s
  • 12 miles
  • 22.05 mile/hr
Comments:

First time being so cautious on the corners - maybe from the crash last week. Didn't feel right at home on the bike this time:(
Transition 2
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

GET YOUR FEET OUT OF YOUR SHOES ABOUT 1/10 MILE PRIOR TO DISMOUNT!!! The walk from the dismount to T2 is steep and super slippery in bike shoes - as you get to the overpass above the train tracks, remove your feet from the shoes, coast down to dismount and run barefoot to T2.
What would you do differently?:

try getting sneakers on quicker.
Run
  • 22m 3s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 06m 18s  min/mile
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

legs felt tired and asleep

Event comments:

First time placing in an Age Group!!!
3rd place with (actually 5th but 2 of the 40-44 finishers were seeded athletes)

Swimming
00:12:57 | 880 yards | 01m 28s / 100yards
Age Group: 0/32
Overall: 75/474
Performance: Good
Suit: yes
Course: eel grass was at the surface for the first 300 yards - low tide and warm water made it interesting. No jellyfish or waves though. Seemed to swim too far toward the west heading out, cut it very close to the markers, then on the way back in, also too far to the west and was wide of the markers. maybe there is a slight current pushing that direction.

Course: Not sure this is really 3.5, I swear it seems more like 3.0 miles. Flat, this year no jerks out there smoking cigars which was nice. The last 1/4 mile on the beach sand is tough - save a tiny bit of gas in the tank for the final push through the sand.
