Swim
Comments: Took the inside track for a change. Surprisingly it worked out, as I had little contact, and felt pretty smooth. Transition 1
Comments: Felt fine. Fairly long run from swim mat to transition. Bike
Comments: Felt pretty good until late, when energy started waxing for (at that time) unknown reason. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Here's where things really felt strange. First mile I was hyperventilating and wheezing, like when I have an asthma attack, but it didn't feel the same. Second mile felt better, but then couldn't kick it in in the last mile. Time was 60-70 seconds slower on the run alone than I can usually do. By later in the afternoon, I found out why. A full blown respiratory virus set in. I had to leave work 30 minutes after arrival on Monday, and stayed home Tuesday as well. Fevers finally ended Wednesday, and now I'm finally able to run (slowly) a little again today one week later! Post race
Event comments: Well-run race, with good swag and very good post-race food. Will do again in future years. Last updated: 2012-01-22 12:00 AM

Up early for Clif Bar and Powerade. To the race site 10 minutes after transition opened. Set up, and then met up with Rob. Had a USAT official come by and inspect my Giro Selector twice, stating that he couldn't find information online that it was legal. Finally left sort-of satisfied after he saw the CPSP sticker. Then suited up in wetsuits and did some practice swims. Rob and I decided we were there an hour too early, as there was no space crunch in transition, so getting there early only wasted energy.
