Swim
Comments: Still having issues sighting. one the first lap, once you rounded and begun your 2nd lap, the sun was right in my eyes. I couldn't spot the bouy. I was having to rely on landmarks around the lake. I did take a kick to the stomach and some kicks to the hands/arms, as well as gave a few kicks. What would you do differently?: Practice spotting. I am going to look into sleeveless wetsuits. I still feel somewhat restricted in the arms. Transition 1
Comments: Last race I had my shoes on the clips. This time I thought I would try with them not on the clips. Transition is slower obv with them off. Was easier to remove wetsuit today as I had a lot more glide on my feet. I had my suit half way peeled off when I got to the transition area. Again it took tim to get suit off of my legs. I wish the had calf zippers on the outside of the legs. I dropped my Garmin 310xt 2x while running from beach to transition area. Bot hdrops onto concrete. One of the drops cracked the clear screen and the Garmin died. What would you do differently?: Shoes on clips. Bike
Comments: There was gravel at some of the turns, so that slowed down my turns. I didn't carry any water, so I only had Accerlade. I ate (or drank) roughly every 15 minutes. Stomach was getting full of liquid. Wish I had some water to clear taste out of mouth. What would you do differently?: Carry both water and nutrition drink. Strength training for better ride. Transition 2
Comments: Some ass blocked the dismount line. I almot ran into him as I came in and jumped off. Pull to the side and stop and dismount if thats how you dismount - let us cruise up and jump off... What would you do differently?: Not much to think of - just takes time to get knee braces on... I hope I won't need them by Cedar Point, or atleast need only one. Run
Comments: Took run easy due to the calf pull/tear the day before. I flared up Sat. and never went away. What would you do differently?: Run faster if I know my Zone. Post race
Warm down: I hugged my son, then walked around the area and talked with fellow Mojo'ers. I had 1/2 PB and J sandwich, 1/2 a banana, some Oreo's, slice of watermellon. I then got a quick massage of the legs. What limited your ability to perform faster: Overall fitness. I finished happy and with a smile. I still had plenty of 'go juice' in the tank. I just wanted to finish, and finish happy. This was my first OLY distance so I wanted to prove I can do it, and do it without killing myself. Afterall, I am headed to do an IM in a year or so. Event comments: I had to race the bike and run based on RPE since my Garmin died. I am glad I know I can do it, but I felt more slow as I didn't want to go too fast because of adrinaline. Friday Eve I made 3 servings of Accelerade Fruit Punch. Filled my one of cycling water bottles and 2 of my running belt bottles. Sat. AM, I packed up some Cliff Shots and Cliff Bloks for me, and some snacks for Kevin.
Sat. AM I did some tune-up workouts. All went well except I pulled or tore my calf when running. This plagued me all weekend. I took the run much more gingerly due to my calf.
Went to Kevin's double header, then his pool party. Left the party late - 9p. Stayed the night in Washington Court House. Checked in about 11p
Wokeup at 5am. Ate a Luna Zest and 6 Cliff Bloks (2 servings). Brewed my coffee then poured it in my to go cup. Strapped on HRM, and put on my MOJO tri-suit.
Son and I packed up and left for the park. We got to the park about 6 am. I placed all my necessary items in my Under Armour bag as a 'Transition Bag'.
Since I was early, I got a great spot on the end in transition. Laid my blaket down, then in the back I placed my running shoes, knee braces, running belt, and visor.
In the front, to be used first, I placed my shoes, and glasses. My helment was on my bike.
About 45 minutes before my start wave, I had a Cliff Shot. and swam about 400 meters. I felt like I should have swum a little more, but was comfy once the race started.
