![]() Swim
Comments: Swim was good. Didn't push it as waves were challenging. Just swam a steady pace. Breathin was steady. Breathed every stroke on the left. What would you do differently?: NOthing. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: It was pouring. Everything was in separate bags trying to keep dry. Hard to keep feet dry and get socks on wet feet. Had to remember everything cuz it wasn't all laid out. Garmin failed. Staff tried to help but it locked up and no one knew how to unlock. Couldn't turn off or reset. Very frustating but they worked on it while I was "transitioning." I interjected slightly. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. I just took my time and I am glad I did. ![]() Bike
Comments: Challenging under good conditions. Truly scary with all of the rain. Not having Garmin was annoying but it probably wouldn't have changed much. Maybe I wasn't going as fast I thought I was and wouldn't have braked so much. The Garmin was too new to me. Stopped to pee at potty right before transition. Timing was good. Nutrition was good. Kept dry in a zip lopck. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Again, had to find things in bags. Unnerving! What would you do differently?: Nothing really. ![]() Run
Comments: Needed a potty, more than half way in. Wasn't coming up so I used a tree. Not too many people left on the course and it was very wooded so I don't think I offended any one. Wore my fuel belt. Felt perfectly hydrated. Took in some nutrition early in. It felt right. What would you do differently?: Train on hills. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked a bit. Half a hot dog. Picked up all the soaking wet stuff and went to the car. What limited your ability to perform faster: Rain, legs werre heavy for the first several miles on bike but it was up hill from the get go. Event comments: I thought from the beginning I was over my head in signing up for this race. I was right. When I drove the course the night b4, I thought I might DNF, and that was before the I knew about the rain. I finished, I didn't get hurt, I wasn't last, except in my age group of 11 people and I helped some one and thanked every one.I prayed for many. Last updated: 2012-03-03 12:00 AM

English muffin with peanut butter. Coffee. NO big salad the day before. Hamburger and fries and a small salad. Miralax early in the day before. BM was perfect the morning of. No multiple trips to the potty with the wet suit on. A huge success.
None. Pouring rain. Organized transition bag in the car.
