Swim
Comments: my swim started off with a hard elbow to the goggle! Literally within the first 10 secs. Luckily the water was shallow enough to stand up and release the forced suction on my eye! ran a few steps and back into the fray..(kuddos to my finis silicone goggles..no cut or abrasion and I was elbowed hard directly in the eye. Rest of the swim I tried to stay at a steady effort and I had a bunch of people hanging on my feet. Everytime I made an effort to draft the dude would zig zag (forget it). Exited the swim after catching my only draft for no more than 50meters. Did swallow some but not alot of water. Was 10 secs slower than last year but with non exact distance who really knows. Was a little dissapointed though with the swim. must work harder! What would you do differently?: Tried to keep up with the lead group as long as possible. Transition 1
Comments: had my shoes attached to my pedals with a band. while removing my bike from the rack my front tire turned and dislodged the shoes farthest from me. I fiddled with putting it on and took the other one of the pedal and put it on.....stupid ugh What would you do differently?: just gonna put my shoes on and run with em on next time! Bike
Comments: I researched wind direction and planned my ride accordingly. It worked to my advantage to know what was up next. I started in approx 26 place and worked it down to 18th by end. I passed several people but not alot. Passed my friend and team mate bryce about half way in. I used the slingshot method several times and it worked to my advantage. Had a great ride and I finally didnt get passed by CO on the bike! My split only beat his by like 20 seconds but Im fired up. This was a bike split improvement of 4mins 16 secs over last year! Thanks to Edeller for the trainer...it and "riding" has made a huge difference. What would you do differently?: not much if anything Transition 2
Comments: dropped my helmet picked up my shades and my wave cap (headband) and shoved on my shoes. Run
Comments: I really felt some leg fatigue but no severe cramping. I ran what I could as fast as my mind and body would put up with. I stayed ahead of bryce, I passed a guy within the first 1/2 mile and he hung on my hip for at least 400m. That was the same dude that passed and then repassed me on the bike. He was bothered by being passed..cant say that I blame him. I passed two others one dude running ridicously slow and the other running about 7 mins per mile. I tried to chase down Iam, Timmy and Daniel but alas couldnt get em. They ran strong and I came within 25m of catching Ian at the end. What would you do differently?: PUSH PUSH PUSH. I say that while im typing....probably couldnt of pushed much harder. Post race
Warm down: ???? stopped and gave fives. hello What limited your ability to perform faster: my swim ability Event comments: I had a great race. I was disappointed I didnt finish top ten but was really excited to see how well all of my teammates did. I wish my t-1 would have been faster I really ate that time and didnt get it back. Drug the wife and boy up their at 540 (too early) next time leaving the house at 430am. Ate half of peanut butter bagel on way with coffee. Got their setup transition etc. I was a little nervous but managed to keep my nerves in check by being early and relaxing. "just a fun day with friends and family that happens to have all three sports in it".
swam for a few minutes and headed up for the pre race prayer (awesome).
