  • 7.55 miles
  • 08m 06s  min/mile
Comments:

The first two miles were spent just trying to find some space to run. Constantly had to dodge slow runners and walkers and make sure you weren't cutting somebody off as you weave through the crowd. Things thinned out a little at the first hill, but still spent a lot of time on the side walks because the street was full. "Doomsday" hill wasn't nearly as tough as publicized - I expected it to be longer, got up it in 3:47. At the top I realized I had a shot at breaking one hour - ran 7:40 and 7:14 splits the last two miles, but missed it by one minute.
What would you do differently?:

Get there earlier and get further toward the front of my corral - a few thousand less people to dodge in that first couple of miles.

Event comments:

Great race experience - not an ideal place to PR, but a terrific, festive atmosphere.
