Swim
Comments: Just forgot all my swim technique-- usually swim a lot faster. Last half of course was strong. What would you do differently?: Remember to catch the water and swim effectively. Try not to worry about everybody else Transition 1
Comments: Took a little time to catch breath from hill and take in a little nuun. What would you do differently?: Wipe a little more sand off feet Bike
Comments: Awesome bike. Maintained pace I wanted. No flat. I did lose some pressure-- checked it when I got home and showed 80 instead of 120 but it worked. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Maybe be a little less aggressive with the cars on the route. Transition 2
Comments: Tried to drink some nuun -- had to wait til breathing calmed down and choked a little. Tried to eat a stinger waffle. Ate 1/2 and could swallow cause of breathing, ran out of transition with waffle in mouth What would you do differently?: Dont eat the waffle Run
Comments: Had to walk a little to get the waffle out of my mouth. Water station was welcome. Met a guy that had bad luck on the bike and talked / ran with him last 1/2. That was nice -- took mind off things and did better. What would you do differently?: Don't eat the waffle. Run a little more. Basically suck it up :-) Post race
Warm down: Stretch, water What limited your ability to perform faster: Trying to eat. I thing my breakfast bagel was too big-- will do 1/2 next time. Just need to get used to harder biking and running. Remember how to swim too. Event comments: I rate this a little down because I felt like there should have been more direction since we where all newbies. I watched last year and did research so I was ok, but there was only 1 email before hand with hotel stuff -- nothing for packet pick up. No course info printed, nothing to say where all the stickers and race bibs went. After I almost missed getting a shirt because nobody said there was one or directed me towards it. I just saw others with it so I figured it out. There was really good police on course but there could have been more volunteers at the transition, check-in, and finish. Got up at 5:10( a little before alarm. Fixed water bottles, packed a peanut butter on plain bagel. Packed up bikes, etc. Had had a flat on the bike when I checked in the garage the nite before. Filled it up and checked nite before and had leaked only about 7 psi. So checked again since it sat overnight - still minor leak. I didn't want to change the tube and risk a pinch ( these is new bike to me with road wheels/tires so not confident in my tire change). Decided to accept calculated risk but packed a 2nd tube and air cartridge on the bike.
Walking... About 1 mile between parking, bathroom, and swim start.
