  • Comments: I have no major complaints about this race. Based on hearsay of a bit of disorganization in the past, I expected it to be less organized, running really behind and such. I found the day of to run smoothly. It is a laid back environment designed for newbie triathletes. The swim started a couple of minutes late, but considering the weather, not too bad. They still pulled off a good event despite the rain. There was water on the run in 2 locations (this was a complaint i had heard in the past) though b/c of the rain/cooler temps I didn't use it. Good course support with police, markers, cones/signage etc. I'd do this race again (Next Tri division next year!) and I'd recommend it to other newbies. My only complain is that the website isn't the most user friendly. It has most of the info one needs but it seems spread out and nowhere did it specify what time transition opened, though at packet pick up they were letting people know to be there at about 6:30.

  • Comments: I rate this a little down because I felt like there should have been more direction since we where all newbies. I watched last year and did research so I was ok, but there was only 1 email before hand with hotel stuff -- nothing for packet pick up. No course info printed, nothing to say where all the stickers and race bibs went. After I almost missed getting a shirt because nobody said there was one or directed me towards it. I just saw others with it so I figured it out. There was really good police on course but there could have been more volunteers at the transition, check-in, and finish.

  • Comments: I don't think I'll be back for this next year as I reallywas turned off by the wierd swim and long run to T1. The bike ride was really crowded but maybe won't be next year since I'd be starting sooner.

  • Comments: It's a great race for first timers and I'm glad i did it. I learned what i need to work on for future races as well as what to expect. I performed better than i expected so overall i was quite pleased.

  • Comments: The race itself was great. I had fun doing it with my daughter. BUT it was poorly organized. There were no instructions for first-timers thus people riding their bike in the transition zone and getting out of the water cutting off before the bouy! There was no drink station at the half way point on the run. They did not give caps to people for the swim. For a first-time race, there needed to be more support. Despite that, I'll do it again next year for the my-next-tri because my son wants to do the my-first-tri next year. I had read race reports with the above complaints so I was prepared with my own fuel belt for the run.

  • Comments: Poorly organized again this year, with no volunteers or water stations onthe run route; no one pooint out the correct lane to ride in where the bike leg turns into the finish and the run is starting.

  • Comments: NO one around when Crystal & I got to finish line. Had to look around for our medals, and t-shirts had pretty much been put away. I don't believe anyone was aware that we were still on the course.

  • Comments: I don't know what the deal is this year, but this is the second race that I have been placed in the wrong AG. I keep getting put in the 25-29 AG. Per USAT rules, I AG up this year and should be in the 30-34 AG. I finished 1st in the AG I was placed, 25-29. I also checked and would have finished 1st in the 30-34 AG (my time of 1:04:56 vs the 30-34 winner of 1:05:13) I finished 7th OA after the results were posted. Two First people beat my time. Interesting note, I was 2:03 out of first place. The winner posted a 1:02:53. I will catch him next year

  • Comments: There should have been milage signs on bike and run course. There should have been water stations on the run. I would not have raced if I had know that the bike course was unpaved in portions. Many racers fell and/or got flats. I was lucky. However, I'd do the race again because of proximity and course.

  • Comments: This is my second year with an unpleasant experience at this race. I think it is a shame to charge people $89 under the pretense that this is a good first race because everyone else is new too. It is nice to have chip timing, but that is about the only good thing I can say. There are many problems in this race that could be fixed. I think a swim course of 400 yards needs more than two bouys. The transition area needs to be assigned spaces. The run should just be the correct length. Period. Add an out-and-back, find a different route, whatever. Additionally, I think it is wrong to place a bunch of first timers in a situation where water is not available on the run. I finished and ran water out to my wife and friends who were still on the course. It looked like a death march. I think this race plays into peoples natural fear of doing their first triathlon. It is expensive, not well supported, and looked fairly dangerous for the people riding in the pack. Running out

  • Comments: Overall I am very pleased with my time improvement from last year. I took it easy during this race since I have an Olympic distance next week and still had a good result. I have recommended this race to many others, some of whom I saw at the race this year. Based on the course conditions on the bike and lack of water on the run, I will not recommend to any beginners in the future. However I still had fun, it was convenient to home, and good practice for me. I will probably be doing it again next year.

  • Comments: On the organization of the race -- I'd have to give it a "pretty good" but clearly not perfect (based on a few items mentioned above and mentioned by others). But, on a personal level, what a great feeling -- all that hard work, early mornings, nerves over how it would go -- and culminating in a great feeling of accomplishment. More than that, and probably more than most running races, I had fun. To me, only the Peachtree has been as much fun to do. But this was a great deal of fun and I'd recommend it to everyone. As I always say -- if I can do it (couch potato extraordinaire until age 39, ANYONE can. But I did it.
