Overall Rank = 507/1266
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 69/144
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 345am. Had plain bagel, 1/2 cup brown rice, 1 banana. Arrived and had transition set up by 6am
Event warmup:

Little chance to warm up at venue. Took lite jog back to my truck to put up tire pump.
Swim
  • 25m 10s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 32s / 100 yards
Comments:

Had great swim except for start where I got blocked out as someone was heading to shore (so it appeared), Once past this I got into a really nice rythem until final turn heading back to dock. Came up on alot of the slower swimmers and had to manuever between them. Overall felt great.
Transition 1
  • 05m 31s
Comments:

forgot tri shoes and had my road shoes by accident. Use speedplay pedals and so ran in shoes, forgot I had protective covers on bottom. jumped on bike and had to get back off due to this. I usually struggle at this transition. I need to practice
What would you do differently?:

bring my tri shoes
Bike
  • 1h 14m
  • 24.85 miles
  • 20.15 mile/hr
Comments:

I should have gone after this one. I guess I was a little gun shy as my race 8 weeks ago I cramped up on the run as I felt I pushed myself too hard. I just took a nice comfortable pace and would pick up speed here and there. Looking at my overall time feel I should have gone after it a little more.
What would you do differently?:

gone harder
Transition 2
  • 03m 18s
Comments:

I lost at least 1 minute due to leaving race belt sitting in transition. Left transition area and had to run back
What would you do differently?:

continue to practice
Run
  • 54m 59s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 51s  min/mile
Comments:

felt good until mile 3-5. Quad felt a little tight. Walked next 2 transition areas and made sure hydrated. last mile I had my legs again.
What would you do differently?:

Bricks, Bricks, Bricks - that is all I can say. I am a 43-45 minute 10k runner normally, but my best tri time is only 50 minutes
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and looked for my wife and daughter for nearly 20 minutes until I found her. Stretched for about 15 minutes. Took in some water, pizza, popsicles.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

As stated above need to practice transition and more bricks

Event comments:

I really enjoyed this race. Overall I beat my best olympic time even with taking the bike portion easier than I could have gone, and losing some energy in run. Oh yea and t1, t2.
