Swim
Comments: About what I expected. I pushed the start and the finish but could've cruised a little faster between the two. At one point I swam right into a guy and got kicked in the face. No damage and the goggles stayed on but it surpirsed me. After the out and back rectangle we hit the channel where I was expecting a traffic jam. I was hugging the corner going in and must've avoided the majority of the people in there b/c it really wasn't that crowded. I did spot Mary watching me. It was pretty cool being that close to the spectators. What would you do differently?: Cruise at a faster pace. Transition 1
Comments: I'm average in T1. I move quick but I still put my bike shoes on before getting on the bike. What would you do differently?: After watching the pro race I've decided to start the bike with shoes already clipped in. I already leave them clipped in for T2 so with a little practice I should be ok. Bike
Comments: There was a decent headwind on the first half of the loop and a tailwind coming back. I held back some on the way out but probably could've benefited from pushing it more there. Not bad, though. What would you do differently?: Ride more. I didn't start riding until April this year. Transition 2
Comments: I still like to wear socks while running so as long as I do that I'll have to accept the time it adds. What would you do differently?: Go sockless. How many times have I answered this question with the same answer? Run
Comments: Pretty much followed my plan to cruise the first 5k then ramp it up on the back half. Early on I got passed by a guy in my AG and didn't give chase for fear of blowing up too soon. I hit all the aid stations for water or gatorade and generally felt good the whole time, though. The last mile or so I picked it up even more and passed a different guy in my AG within a 1/4 mile of the finish. What would you do differently?: Push it harder the whole way and puke at the finish line. I'm never afraid to try that in an open 10k. Post race
Warm down: Shade. Stretch. Hydrate. Food. Watched the pros swim, do T1 and dismount their bikes. Pretty cool. What limited your ability to perform faster: I probably could've pushed the pace more but I'm not sure how much I woudld've gained. I just need more time training. But this was still an oly PR for me so I'm happy. Event comments: This was my first time racing here. Great venue and a great course. Well organized, fun and just an overall enjoyable race experience from beginning to end. Last updated: 2012-04-01 12:00 AM

I got up earlier than I needed to, like usual.
Breakfast was a Clif Bar and some Hammer Perpetuem while hovering over all the gear I packed up the night before. Yep, it's still there.
After body marking I put the finishing touches on my TA, went for a quick 1 mile run then jumped in the water for a short out and back to the first buoy
