Swim
Comments: Swim is my weakest of the three events. I was pretty happy with it. I did have to pass two people, which slowed me down some. What would you do differently?: Still need to work on form, maybe learn how to do flipturns. Transition 1
Comments: The transitions were longer this year than last year. Bike
Comments: Got on the bike. Was a little windy but not half as bad as last year. The first couple of miles were a little rough. I just could not get up to the speed that I wanted. I had to keep looking down to make sure my brakes weren't rubbing or something. I was finally able to get my legs to cooperate and get up to a better speed. What would you do differently?: Push harder Transition 2
Comments: No issues getting bike racked, throwing my shoes on and hitting the run course What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: I think the run was a little short. By my calculations it was only a 2.85 mile run. I tried to keep an even pace and pay attention to my breathing. I have had issues in the past with getting a horrible side stitch. I wanted to make sure I was taking deep enough breaths to prevent that from happening this time. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Came across the finish line and was very surprised that I broke and hour. I hung out at the finish line and cheered on other tri club members as they came down the finish chute. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heavy feeling legs at the first part of the bike? Event comments: Setup events does a great job and this is no exception. They got the distance for the swim wrong on all the shirts, medals and awards. Last updated: 2012-04-01 12:00 AM

Got up at 5. Had some oatmeal and some coffee. Went to pickup my friend and headed out for the 50 minute drive to the race site. It was drizzling for most of the morning, pretty much right up until race time. Set up my transition area. Then it was time to chat with other members of my Tri group, Fat Frogs Tri, and relax. I had about 2.5 hours until time for me to get into the pool.
No warm up really. I did get in the pool and swim a couple of laps in order to check out the goggles and get rid of some race day jitters.
