Woke up at 4am. half pb&j sandwich, half banana, half redbull. See a pattern here ;-)
Event warmup:

Walk to start, run in place, light jog thru camp grounds, light stretch. One gel pack 45 mins prior to swim, then one 15 mins prior.

Some jerk pulle me to a dead stop just prior to first turn on swim. Couldn't breath bi-laterly like I normally do due to a slight neck muscle cramp

Drank 5 bottles and really hydrated for the run. This was so important to do. So many people bonked on the run because they didn't hydrate on the bike. The morning was very cool with a fog and I think people were not drinking cause of it.
What would you do differently?:

pedal faster. gotta work on getting my rpm higher.

Only got one foot out of shoe that I left on bike. Too late getting ither foot out. Had to unclip.

Took a long long long time for my HR to come down below 100. Kinda scary.

Course: I had gone over this course twice. Once in the car and once on the bike so I knew it well. Just very different to see without cars and havig 2000 bikes on it.

Course: Half road, half trail. I loved the trail. Hot but I put ice under my running cap at each station. Kept me cool, stayed away from gatorade. Too hot for gatorade. Turns my stomach. Stuck with water and gel packs.
