Pre-race routine:

Didn't sleep very well the past two nights due to severe weather in OKC and DFW area. Was worried about my son at home with the fur kids.

Anyway, got up at 5am, ate a Kind bar and left for venue.
Event warmup:

No warm-up, just tried to set-up my transition area in a light shower.

I probably should've looked at the swim course prior to start, because at the sound of the horn I took off for the wrong buoy. Didn't realize it until I was a third way there, and had to swim across the course to everyone else. What a doofus.

I never have my shoes on my bike before I reach T1. Seriously, I should probably practice this given I'm so slow in transition. This is still a long transition time, especially given how small transition area is. I have got to come up with something, these long T times are ridiculous.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, I really, really hurried. I was positioned as far away from bike out as I could have been and running in my bike shoes sucks.

I am satisfied with my bike. I would have liked to reach 17mph, but I was playing it conservative due to the wet road conditions.

Again, racked as far from bike in as possible necessitated me having to run in my bike shoes to the other end of transition area. Other than that I went as fast as I could.
What would you do differently?:

I'm going to try to start taking my feet out of my shoes while on the course.

I am still slower than molasses. However, this hill stuff has got to go. Also, I just don't think I'm a good sprinter because I was just getting my HR under control and increasing my pace as I neared the finish line. I'm thinking I'm more a long distance type gal.
What would you do differently?:

Lose some weight. Practice running on hills - lots of hills.

Inexperience, weight, not a sprinter, lack of quality sleep previous two nights, wet course.

Event comments:

Had to bug out as soon as I crossed the finish line due to severe weather headed towards race venue. Oh, and no freaking finishers medal!! AAHHH! I'm a medal ho! However, I did come in 2nd in my age group so I think they may have an award for me. Need to call them and have them send it to me.

Other than that, I really need to pay attention to which way the swim is going prior to getting in the water. That was pretty lame of me.
