Pre-race routine:

Picked Dad up at 8 and head down to the race site. Got there around 10, went and got bib number and body marked. Had a pb&j on whole wheat bagel.
Event warmup:

Reverse order warm up, easy jog on the first half of the run course to remember all the turns, easy bike around a couple of blocks, finally a few laps in the pool to get ready.
Swim
  • 07m 47s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Had a really good swim, ended up passing close to 10 people over the entire length. Group of women in front of me didn't know their swim time and wanted to be together. Also sucked down a face full of water trying to pass a guy.
What would you do differently?:

Apparently seed myself faster. Honestly was a really good swim for me.
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

It was an okay transition. I got some new socks that are great but are a little tight to be putting on with wet feet. My jersey also had blown off the bike and I had to find it.
What would you do differently?:

I don't practice a lot of transitions but maybe I will have to start working on that.
Bike
  • 34m 48s
  • 11.7 miles
  • 20.17 mile/hr
Comments:

Managed to really hammer it on the bike. I was passing people left and right. I could probably count the number of people who passed me on one hand. Wind was a bit rough but with aero bars it was easy to get low and cut through it.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Transition 2
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

Fumbled a little bit getting the bike shoes off, but a pretty quick transition from bike to running shoes.
Run
  • 35m 1s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 11m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

A very solid run for me. I didn't walk once during any portion of the run. I have been running a lot more lately and have gotten use to it sucking and then getting better. So when the cramping started, I knew that if I just sucked it up that it would pass within .5 a mile and it did.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing other than keep running more
Post race
Warm down:

Into sweatpants and a jacket to get out of the wind.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weight, once I drop another 50lbs it is really gonna be fun.

Event comments:

Well run race, this is my second year and I would do it again. If I had to pick a complaint, it would be that the pool is way to warm for my liking.
