Age Group Rank = 210/422
Pre-race routine:

banana and casein w/fat free milk
tall latte
scoop cytomax 40 mins before start (start ran late)
3 caps sports legs at the same time as the cytomax
Event warmup:

streching
Swim
  • 26m 5s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

better - didn't get freaked out - navigated better
What would you do differently?:

I need to swim harder/faster
Transition 1
  • 04m 43s
Comments:

put gloves on during ride - but put shoes on in T1 - dirt made it so I could run in shoes
put gels in shoes - didn't forget them! - 2 mins faster than last time.
What would you do differently?:

take bucket for feet filled w/water
Bike
  • 49m 23s
  • 12 miles
  • 14.58 mile/hr
Comments:

hills hills everywhere - hooray for sportlegs - gel at start, cytomax throughout - endurathon by EAS is horrid tasting.

The road was also horrid - potholes, rough patches - I think my fork shook loose a bit. I felt like the bike was just going to shake apart.
What would you do differently?:

add another gel at mile 10 or 11 to prep for run
Transition 2
  • 02m 27s
Comments:

2 mins faster than last time - yay yanks! Gel in shoe - remembered it.
Run
  • 33m 21s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

tough - took a gel right at start - ugh - was too much digestion for running. slowed me down - I ended up walking a bit on hills as not to puke.

Last hill a sister helped me out by egging me on to run up the hill. Thanks girl! Finished ok.
What would you do differently?:

Gel end of bike, not start of run!
Post race
Warm down:

walk, banana, water, crackers, a swig or two cytomax

What limited your ability to perform faster:

hills were killer. I need to push more on the swim and work on kick

Event comments:

tough course - makes the CapTex look easy, almost like a luxury race in comparison. I enjoyed the captex much more - better swag - better post race - but the vibe of the all woman race was great as was the pep talk and high-five at the end.

The road stinks for the bike race - I thought my fillings were going to vibrate out.
