Swim
Comments: The swim was alright. It certainly was not spectacular. With a timetrial start there were 249 people in front of me and all over the place. I weaved through them fairly well, but it probably slowed me down a little. I mentally went into this race, with the intent of pushing it as hard as i can and seeing if i would blow up prior to the run. Unfortunately my head and body were not into it, when i hit the water. Hopefully this was just my body saying it was tired, from a hard training week. What would you do differently?: Not much Transition 1
Comments: The rack was just a little too short so my seat did not fit under the rack. It did when i racked earlier. must have been the extra weight of the other bikes. so I had a little bit of a challenge getting it out, then i dropped my helmet and glasses. I actually am surprised the transition did not take me longer What would you do differently?: make sure the rack is tall enough or rack my bike differently Bike
Comments: I attempted to push the bike as hard as i can. I tried to make my legs hurt like TNT this week. the ride went fairly decent except for the stretch on HWY 7. that part was into the wind. Mentally I struggled to keep my effort level up. Once I turned out the wind, i perked up, and really improved my performance. The last 5 miles i really pushed everything, especially up the hills. they were mainly easy rollers, but this is the first race that i passed people going up hills. EVER. What would you do differently?: My legs were tired from the miles/intervals this past week. I clearly still need more biking miles. Transition 2
Comments: i hopped of my bike and one of my shoes fell off its cleat. so i had to turn around and pick that up. Of course i swore. Sorry spectators. then after i picked up the first shoe and turned around then the other one fell off. So i turned around again and picked up that one up. after that the transition went smooth. What would you do differently?: figure out why my shoes fell off. might be just bad luck Run
Comments: this hill the first mile hurt my pace, but was not killing me like the people i passed. I knew this was only 4 miles so i figured i would see how hard i could go. Unfortunately speed was not in the cards. My legs were tired, and i was right on the edge of puking the whole time. The down hills on the way back in really helped my pace. What would you do differently?: Once again rest up a little prior to the race. Then hit the track with some speed work. Post race
Warm down: wondered around, ate food, and drank water while waiting for Jenny to finish What limited your ability to perform faster: This was not a A race, so i did not taper for the race. This was the hardest week all year of training. So hopefully this will be in the plan and be a great workout, and lead to improvement in the future. Event comments: This was a fun race. I dont like sprints, because of lack of top end speed. I will look into doing this race in the future, if it fits in the calendar. Last updated: 2012-05-11 12:00 AM

the usual pancakes and bathroom, then hit the road. we arrived early got a great parking spot and our pick of rack spot. then we went back to the car and relaxed/ napped.
I rode the bike for about 20 minutes then was warm especially while in the sun. Then for about an hour was just trying to stay cool and sit in the shade.
