Swim
Comments: I didn't feel great during the swim as there was a bit of a chop. Also got off course a bit on the way out and lost some time there. Never found much of a rhythm. Transition 1
Comments: Not bad but there are still gains to be made here. What would you do differently?: Practice transitions more Bike
Comments: Tried to push a consistent hard pace and not "fall asleep" during the last third of the course. Solid ride although light headwind over the last 3-4 miles hurt speed a bit. AP240/NP244 IF.905 What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Pretty good bike leg for me. A bit faster than last year. Transition 2
Comments: Nothing too good or bad. A couple of seconds lost here/there. Still needs work Run
Comments: Hill out of transition is tough coming off the bike. I just tried to maintain an easy steady pace so I could push it once getting to the turn. Race goal was sub 7:00/mile pace and I was at 7:20-25 in the first mile due to the hill. Picked up the pace after that and had a good run. Big improvement over last year's time of 24:01. Post race
Warm down: Visited with friends...great thing about hometown race is knowing so many people. Ate a little bit, had a few refreshments and hung around for awards. Great post race atmosphere with lots of families, beautiful park right along Mobile Bay and fantastic weather this year. Was 2nd in my AG but winner bumped up to win grandmasters so I ended up with 1st in the 50-54 (Geritol) AG What limited your ability to perform faster: Can't complain. Met or exceeded my goals Event comments: One of my favorites. First race I did 3 years ago so always fun to come back. Beautiful setting and everything really well done.
