![]() Swim
Comments: I got out to a fast start maybe a little too fast as there was a 12 second difference between my first and second lap. I'm a big preacher of never trying anything new on race day. I broke that rule today. I just picked up new team uniforms yesterday and didn't have a chance to swim in them. Note that they don't have drawstring to tighten them but they are very snug but they also ride a little low to begin with. Add in the bending of the flip turns and I can safely say the volunteer who was keeping track of my laps probably got a show everytime I flipped on her side of the pool. What would you do differently?: Going to see if I can fashion a drawstring in these shorts ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I had a mini-transition station right out of my lane with my helmet, race belt and socks. Put on the socks (which were soaked) then during the run to the bike I put on my helmet and race belt. I did this last year and it worked out great. I figured I'm not doing anything else during that run so why not put on clothes and helmet during that run. Once again being a preacher of not trying new things on race day I tried the rubber band trick with my shoes. Did not work. Long story short I didn't have rubberbands so I used paperclips and it didn't work. Had to stop get on the bike then go What would you do differently?: Same thing I put on all comments from previous races learn the flying mount or at least running mount ![]() Bike
Comments: Pretty amped up at the beginning so I got out to a fast start which I wanted to do. I've been working on increasing my bike speed so this portion of the race is where I wanted to gain some ground. This race had a lot of turns but there were adequate volunteers to help us along. What would you do differently?: Not much. Happy with the bike ![]() Transition 2
Comments: When I saw the 13sec time on my watch I thought for sure it was wrong but I didn't have to take my shoes off. the only things I had to do were rack my bike, put on my running shoes and I was off. What would you do differently?: nothing. really good transition ![]() Run
Comments: My garmin was dead and i was counting on that to pace me. Turns out it was a good thing it didn't work. I had my lap watch and they had mile markers each my so I figured my splits from that. Got to the first my and it read 7:10 I wanted to ave about 7min/mile so I increased speed a bit. Next mile I figured in my head (didn't press the split button after the first mile...i'm a genius i know) that I ran somewhere around 6:30. I was really happy with that and was falling over tired so i thought I only have 1 mile left and i needed to pick up the pace again. Last mile was about 6min pace which I'm incredibly pleased with. The run was a hard pace and pleased with how it turned out What would you do differently?: nothing ![]() Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing Event comments: My biggest problem with this race is you have to wait for the results for 2-3 days. Last updated: 2012-05-14 12:00 AM

Similar to last years race I came into town the night before and was able to stay with a friend. Picked up my packet and the picked up my friend who drove the course with me. It is definitely a must to always drive the course. The map and directions I was given did not coincide with each other and if I would not have driven the course I would have definitely taken a wrong turn.
Swam a couple laps to get my bearings on flip turns then did my pre-race walk through
