Swim
Comments: I had a goal of 2:15per 100 pace so I am pretty pleased with the swim. The start was good, but I have to try and find better space as I swam up on people a few times in the first few 100m. I probably could have been faster had I not had to stop about 5 or 6 times to let water out of my goggles....might have to get a new pair as they seem to be leaking a lot lately:( Had a slight foot cramp at the start, and right before the last bouy, but nothing that slowed me down too much. The water temp was perfect...to me anyway. I felt like I sighted pretty well. What would you do differently?: Maybe a new pair of goggles that wont leak....that probably would have saved about 10 or 15 seconds. I just need to keep practicing the swim and work on form. Last two races have been great in the water so as long as I keep improving I'm good. Transition 1
Comments: It's a somewhat long run between the swim exit and the bikes. Looking at other's T1 times I'm in the low end so that is good. I didn't lollygag as I had everything pretty well laid out. I did wipe my feet before I got my feet in the shoes. What would you do differently?: I still need to start using rubberbands to hold shoes in place and then practice with them. Not sure the T1 time could improve a ton...maybe run faster:) Bike
Comments: I was going along GREAT until the 3rd lap...then I crashed on the U-Turn on the northern part of the course. I just don't have any confidence U-Turning left. Fell on my right knee inbetween two bushes...it could have been a lot worse and my bike is fine. Probably was going to be around 20MPH average before the crash. I was passing a lot of people though on some expensive tri bikes....so that felt great!! What would you do differently?: I really need to practice bike handling. maybe ride in some grass so if I fall it wont hurt too bad. A course in handling skils...I don't know..anything I guess. The bike milage is about to increase a lot so that will help as well. Transition 2
Comments: There were three older slower ladies just in front of me coming into T2, two on the right and one on the left, I tried to pass but couldn't, the one on the left just would not move...ggrrrrr. There were also a few older guys from the earlier waves that stopped WAY too short of the dismount line. I dove the bike left of them and hopped off the bike in stride....at least I can do that well!! Tried to get around all of the slowpokes, but there just too many of em. Got shoes on easy, grabed my hat and race belt and was off...pretty good time. What would you do differently?: Not get stuck behind slower cyclists from the earlier waves maybe? The few seconds faster I would have been if it was a clear shot was out of my hands so no biggie. Run
Comments: Wish I could have known my two 5K splits because the first one felt FAST and I felt like was flying. I ran a 10K PR so that was really cool. Second loop was kind of HOT, but I didn't stop I just kept pushing on. Water at every stop...one on the head, a few sips from the other and then on the body. Love the number of water stops on this course! What would you do differently?: Pace the two laps better, probably could have run a few seconds faster/mile had I paced just a tad better. I ran a PR for the distance so I can't complain hardly at all. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed two wet towels and a bottle of water. Dosed myself in water and tried not to passout as I was pretty dizzy. Had a gatoraide, another bottle of water, bannana, Dr Pepper and a MGD 64 beer:) Tried to walk around a little and find a bathroom, but NONE were in the post race area...not good planning if you ask me. I did like the number of tents that were set up though so you could keep in the shade. What limited your ability to perform faster: CRASHING on the bike for starters. It just threw me off my game. I set a new PR for the Olympic distance so I can't complain that much even with the crash. Event comments: They made improvements since last year....there was beer, and a lot of bottled water, would of liked to see some more fruit, but it's okay. I don't know why but packet pick up was SLOW again and I got there within 15min of the opening. I have to say I'll do it again because they did make some pretty good changes like the after race festivities. Last updated: 2012-05-29 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:15am took shower and drove to race site. Setup transistion and then had about an hour to kill before transistion closed and then another hour before I went off. I got to watch both the pro men and women come into transistion before they closed it, so that was cool.
I had a bottle of water, bottle of Ironman perform sports drink, and a shot block. I had to wait a long time when transistion closed till I went off so I sat around and chatted with folks, used the restroom etc to kill time. Did some light stretching about 10min before I was to go off. Did get to tread water for 2 min before my gun.
