Swim
Comments: This was my first race and my second open water swim. I need to work on sighting and staying on course. Once I went off course by a couple of yards so it didn't cost me much time, but some. I started faster than I wanted, but after a few yards I slowed a bit and got my breathing back under control. What would you do differently?: Start slower and pick up the pace as I go and sight better. Transition 1
Comments: It was about a 1/4 mile run to the transition area. I didn't wear a wetsuit so I just had to put my socks and helmet on and go. I had my shoes in the pedals already so when I got to the mount line I put one foot in and started the bike and got the other in as I was moving. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Maybe run a little faster to transition. Bike
Comments: This is about the only segment I passed anyone on. My goal was to hammer it on the bike since it is my strongest event and hope I can hold on during the run. What would you do differently?: Go even harder. Transition 2
Comments: Grabbed my hat, racing belt, chews, put my shoes on and took off. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I knew this was my weakest event because I haven't trained as much as I wanted because of knee injuries. I thought I would do about 2 min or so faster, but I really hit the bike hard so I think that took a bit out of my run. What would you do differently?: Ignore the pain and run faster. Post race
Warm down: None. What limited your ability to perform faster: Runnning. Event comments: Good race, well organized and 3 aid stations on a 5k run. I plan on doing this event every year as a guage of my performance year over year. Last updated: 2012-05-30 12:00 AM

Got up around 5:30 and ate a banana and two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Drank a bottle of water and a bottler of gatorade before the race.
