Swim
Comments: great swim time. the course did not seem like 400 yards but it was a good swim. It was nice to be passing people and staying on course. What would you do differently?: swim faster Transition 1
Comments: great transition, fast and effucient I had my cap and goggles off with my arms out of my sleeves at the same time I jumped up out of the lake. fastest T1 time in the race What would you do differently?: forgot to put my bike with the handlebars out and ended up dropping my helmet reaching from the back so I lost a bit of time picking it up. Bike
Comments: Awful bike. I was absolutely flying with a odometer pace time above 21 mph BUT I lost a chain TWICE on a hill as it sucked into the hub off of the cassette. I lost at least 10 minutes on the mechanical AARGH!!! I think the derailleur or the hanger must be bent. If they weren't before they certainly are now. I think I jacked up the hub of my wheels too but am afraid to look as they were bloody expensive and hard to replace. What would you do differently?: not drop a chain, DANG! Transition 2
Comments: good transition but a little discouraged after the mechanicals What would you do differently?: did not shoot the gel pack and didn't have any fluid after it spilled out with the mechanicals. Run
Comments: very slow on the run. I am not strong running on the hills and after the discouraging bike I didn't have the heart to push through on the run What would you do differently?: not take the boys backpacking the Thursday- Friday before the race Post race
Warm down: clean up in the lake What limited your ability to perform faster: Mechanical failures on the bike. Were it not for that I think i would have been a top ten if not top five finisher. DANG. Event comments: always a fun race to do. I had bad abdominal cramps just below my rib cage for about 4 hours after the race I think it was related diaphragm spasm. It felt a lot like really bad stomach flu but seemed better when I raised my hands and lengthened by core. Last updated: 2012-05-31 12:00 AM
