Swim
Comments: I felt good in the swim...with the exception of all the seaweed. At the start of the race the seaweed was thick and it would get tangled around your feet, arms, face...just about everything. I was able to stay right with Tif up until the very end and she pulled away. This was good for me because I was able to use her to draft. I do not remember getting passed in the water if I did. Transition 1
Comments: Nothing exciting in T1. Everything went smoothly and I did not forget anything for the bike. What would you do differently?: Just need to learn how to be a little quicker in the transition area. Bike
Comments: I really pushed on the bike. I knew there were only a few in my age group ahead of me and I wanted to catch them. I was very proud of this ride...this is the first race that I have averaged over 20 mph and that has always been a goal of mine. Also, I never was passed on the bike in this race...this is the first time this has every happened. I never felt like I was using up the legs while on the bike either...the effort was hard, but I was not over doing it. Transition 2
Comments: Need to be quicker in T2 Run
Comments: This is the part of the race that got me. My legs felt good...even the hamstring, but I would get a side stich on my right side whenever I would try to push the pace. I was passed on the run...more times then I would like to admit, but when I looked at my time it was not that bad of a run. What would you do differently?: I was limited in the run training leading up to the race...pulled hamstring has prevented that in the last few weeks. Also, might have overdone it on the eating the night before. Post race
Warm down: Got a massage right after the race on the left hammy and then found some ice to ice it down with. Also did some stretching and walked around a bit. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of intensity in the run training and too much eating the night before. Event comments: I love this race. It is a great course...especially since they went back to the original bike course this year. I make sure to have it on my schedule every year...I won't miss it! Last updated: 2012-06-04 12:00 AM

Woke up at 3:00 am. Loaded the the tribags and the bikes. Ate a bagel with cream cheese and drank Gatorade on the drive.
Set up transition area and then went for a warmup jog.
Jogged the first mile of the course and did a short swim before the race started. Also did some stretching.
