Swim
Comments: Started right out front of the pack to get away from the washing machine. Swam a little too hard at the beginning and ended up paying for it at the beginning of the bike ride. What would you do differently?: Swim a tad slower. Transition 1
Comments: Much better transition from last year. But still had trouble getting my wetsuit off at the ankles and socks on. First time I have had my shoes on my bike and It save quite a few seconds on my transition. What would you do differently?: Trim a little more off my wetsuit. Run without socks next time. Bike
Comments: Had a couple of problems with my bike. Had a small crash on Wednesday and thought I had fixed my front derailleur, but apparently not since my chain popped off just before the top of Copps hill. I tried to quickly get the chain back on by switching gears but just ended up getting jammed between my crank and rear brake (Speed Concept rear brake). It took me 1:30 to get the chain fixed and going again (according to my Garmin watch). What would you do differently?: Have my bike checked out by a mechanic next time. Transition 2
Comments: Much better than last year. What would you do differently?: No complaints Run
Comments: Felt awful from the first mile. My calves were cramping up and I was running at a snails pace (literally). Second half was a little better, but I had lost too much time to make it up. Only a few seconds better than last year so it was disappointing. What would you do differently?: Run many many many more hills in training. Post race
Warm down: Grab some water, gatorade, and bagel to eat. Then caught up with my family and cheered on my wife as she finished her first triathlon. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to spend less time in the water and more time on the road (cycling and running). Event comments: Great local Triathlon with lots of support from local businesses (Ridgefield Bicycle Shop). Athletes were very supportive of each other. Last updated: 2012-06-05 12:00 AM

Wake up, shower, eat a Clifbar and Banana, load the car, and wake the kids.
Set up transition. Helped my wife set up her transition (her first triathlon). Went to the pond and swan 200 yards to get a feel for the water.
