Pre-race routine:

Had a power bar and banana before the race - sipped on water before race. Got on bus around 6:15 to head down to lake. Pumped up tires, got bike ready, went to bathroom.
Event warmup:

Did a little bit of swim warmup ~5mins

Comments:

Started close to the water - think I chose a great spot - it was crazy squishy for the first bit of the swim but it didnt bother me at all and i didnt even end up breathing in any water! I was quite calm most of the time and tried to go at a nice comfortable pace. Rounding the first buoy was crazy so i just breastroked around it. The rest of the buoys were fine, I set a goal for the second lap to find someone to draft off of. I was successful at this and drafted off another girl for most of the 2nd lap.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I was very happy with my swim.

Time with bike.
Used wetsuit strippers for the first time - she was great! Since the run up to the beach was so short I decided to let her do it!
Sat down in transition and didnt go too fast - just relaxed.
What would you do differently?:

Not much that I can think off. I wasnt too slow or fast. It was crazy busy trying to get out of transition so maybe I should swim faster next year to avoid all of this hustle and bustle!

Comments:

Started out fine - almost got taken out trying to get out of the lake by someone who was in too big of a gear and going sideways! Had to yell at him!
5km into the bike - 'did a bug just splat on my arm? oh wait - no, thats bird crap allllll over me... awesome......'
Luckily it was raining so it helped a bit but wasnt a great start to the bike. I found my legs were not responding AT ALL. Usually i feel awesome on bike rides and love them but there was something off with me on the bike today. I got a bad headache about 25k into the bike and it didnt go away until I finished the bike. I was pretty down on myself for most of the bike as Im not used to going that slow and being passed by so many people - was soooo happy to be done. Had to walk bike into transition as my legs hurt.
What would you do differently?:

Not get bird pooped on......haha

Not sure why I felt so awful today on the bike? I was feeling really exhausted the last two weeks so maybe i had a bit of a bug? I would also like to do a lot more biking next year so at least I left myself quite a bit of time I can shave off for next year:)
Transition 2

Time with bike.

I was SOOOO Happy i had dry socks! My feet were so cold and soaked from the bike - i couldnt even run to my spot so i just walked. At this point I knew that all of my time goals were out the window so I just took my time and knew I would just be happy to finish the race. Chatted with Andrew while I was putting on my socks as I was right by the side of transition. He pumped me up and told me I was still doing awesome and to just pace myself on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Not much - I calmed myself back down in T2 after a bad bike so I was quite ok to take my time.
Run

Comments:

I had to pee sooooo bad and couldnt decide when to do it. At the 1k mark i noticed there was an empty porta potty so I just decided I might as well not bother trying to hold on any longer - felt sooo much better after this! It was a good call! It was hard getting my tight one piece suit back on thougH!! I took a nice easy pace and was able to hold it until about 17k! which i was pretty pumped about! Unfortunatly this is when I was done.....haha. I was really hoping to run the whole thing but I made it close. From there it was a shuffle run alternating with short walk breaks the rest of the way. I think if I had of been able to keep up my pace I probably would have been closer to 2:10 which I would have been very ok with! (even though i was hoping for faster, I am still fine with 2:20!)
What would you do differently?:

More long runs - considering I just started running over 1 hour this year I am quite fine with this for this year - next year I will be sub 2 on the run for sure!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around - watched ppl finsihed - got changed out of my tri suit

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need to up the long endurance training

Event comments:

Disappointed there were no door prizes as I heard there were a ton last year.
