Total Time = 8h 00m
Overall Rank = 134/371
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 14/28
Pre-race routine:

Checking, get tagged, drink a bottle of Nuun and have a GU... that's about it
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 10m 57s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 29s / 100 yards
Comments:

Still suck at swimming... This could've been my worst swim ever in a tri (which says a lot!). Never got really comfortable and felt painfully slow (which I am)
What would you do differently?:

Learn to swim or stick with duathlons?!
Transition 1
  • 02m 47s
Comments:

Took some extra time in T1 to collect myself after the bad swim. Wet suit got stuck and I really struggled to get out
What would you do differently?:

Thinking it might be time to either get a new wet suit (this one gets stuck), or try to cut legs
Bike
  • 34m 46s
  • 12 miles
  • 20.71 mile/hr
Comments:

Couldn't get in a good rhythm for the first loop... had to deal with lots of slower riders as well (which is of course the end result of being a non-swimmer and painfully slow out of the water). Not my best bike performance (over 1 min. slower than 2011's Whaling City)
Transition 2
  • 01m 19s
Comments:

Although I had a good transition, I did do a few things that was out of norm...
What would you do differently?:

Have a bottle of Nuun available so I don't have two try to drink from the bike bottle... By the time the run started, it was getting very humid, so liquid was necessary.
Run
  • 24m 13s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Running is usually my strength, but I felt horrible during the entire run! (actually not exactly... the first 1/2 mile was ok). Couldn't stay cool, couldn't get into a rhythm and my posture was horrible. I kind of expected a slowish run (had a stress fracture in my leg that pretty much stopped all training for the entire winter and then has hampered my run ever since).
What would you do differently?:

Simply need to get back into running.
Post race
Warm down:

Felt pretty bad when I finished... Totally overheated, but nothing that a wet towel and a handful of ice in the tri suit couldn't remedy.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm simply out of shape.

Event comments:

Sun Multisport puts on a great race! Fantastic organization, well run, really, really good volunteers. This is why I keep coming back to this race! We live and train in fairly hilly terrain, so flat courses like this is not to my advantage... Highly recommended event though!
