Swim
Comments: First 1000 meters was toughest part of the swim. Between the contact, and the easterly direction (into the sunrise), it made things a little tougher. The half-way point turn made things much easier. Definitely a confidence booster walking out of the water sub 35 minutes. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Hit my goal on this one. Transition 1
Comments: Long run into transition. Spent time getting everything ready for the bike. Could have gone a little faster here. What would you do differently?: Spend less time in transition Bike
Comments: Good bike, but in retrospect, I probably went a little too fast. Avg HR here was 142. I would have liked it to be in the upper 130s. Not too bad, but I think it was just over the line. What would you do differently?: Pace better. I think being ~5 mins slower on the bike could have saved me 10 minutes on the run. Transition 2
Comments: Almost wiped out running into T2 with the bike. Last two T2s have been bad. Definitely need to work on that. Spent time getting everything together for the run. Then dropped one Gu, and left my race belt with number sitting in transition. Not good. What would you do differently?: Take everything I need for the run. And do it faster. Run
Comments: Bad, bad run for me. The first loop wasn't too bad (Avg 8:25 pace). Wanted to stay on the 8:30 for the run. But, that wasn't happening. By loop #2, the wheels fell off. Then it was just a matter of getting through. Definitely paid for being too ambitious on the bike. What would you do differently?: Pace better on the bike to prepare me for the run. Post race
Warm down: Sat in the shade, drank some water, vitamin water and Muscle Milk. Eventually went to the athletic center and showered. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike pacing. Bit off more than I could chew. Event comments: The only knock that I have on this race is the run course. It was a little disjointed, but understandable considering the location constraints. Overall I'm pleased with my first HIM. Definitely have things I need to work on. Last updated: 2012-07-10 12:00 AM

Didn't do a lot. The time change gave an hour's extra sleep, which was helpful. Rode bikes over from the villa we stayed in. Transition setup was pretty easy, although the spaces were pretty packed in. Wandered over to swim start, and waited for everything to start.
None.
