  • Comments: I like this race. It was my first 70.3 four years ago. The transition was in a new parking lot next to the water and well lit. I guess the only down side was running on concrete for 13.1 miles. Using the golf cart path is a good idea but too bad it had sloped areas and was broken up in others. I saw one lady go down hard.

  • Comments: Excellent race at a great venue. This race is a great way to end the tri season. This was my third Oil Man, and each year seems better than the last.

  • Comments: I would say maintain the difficulty of the race. Keep the same number of staff and volunteers. Ready good food would be nice like barbecue would be nice for the participants. I am sure a better arc for the finish would be more memorable for the finishers.just to be honest i have seen better in sprint races. Over-all its a good race and ill keep coming back for Oilman and other races of Out-Loud productions. Thank You Very Gregg Pennington and Cathy Ferrara.

  • Comments: Great race. This is a small, local HIM. It doesn't have near the number of people that an IM-branded race has, and the late season and competeing races work together to limit participation. I've done this race twice now, and done the Longhorn race in Austin twice. Between the two, this is a much better race, as long as you are okay with the smaller nature of the event. Great way to end the tri season.

  • Comments: This was my first 70.3. The volunteers were GREAT! We didn't stay for the awards (left 10 minutes before) due to a long drive back. If I go next year we'll stay another night. Beautiful resort as well!!!

  • Comments: The only knock that I have on this race is the run course. It was a little disjointed, but understandable considering the location constraints. Overall I'm pleased with my first HIM. Definitely have things I need to work on.

  • Comments: the race was better than I expected. unfortunately, I was pretty much burned out by the time it arrived. it's been a long season and I'm glad it's finished. time to rest and recover and get ready for 2012!

  • Comments: Race is well-organized and the RD clearly is looking out for the athletes. Excellent course control and post-race activities. The venue worked but some of the run surface was sketchy. Overall very good.

  • Comments: Given the amount of reorganization needed just before the race due to road resurfacing and a lower than normal lake. I think the race was run well. Hopefully the roads will be finished by next year and I'll be ready to come back and try again.

  • Comments: Overall, this is a good race. It's smaller than the Texas WTC 70.3 races and doesn't have the hype, but is well run and the course is great. It'd be a great race for first timers or those looking for a half to end the season with. This bike course has a lot in common with the IM-Woodlands bike course, so anyone wanting a race on those roads as IM prep should consider it!

  • Comments: The event was a great preview of all things Iron. it confirmed my decision to hire a coach. I realized (1) I can swim farther. I can swim Iron. (2) I can bike farther. I can bike Iron (3) I did not give the run the respect it deserves and treated it as my "easy" segment and did things (e.g. tried new foods/ clothes) that I NEVER would have done for a marathon. (4) The 70.3 has my respect - and the half marathon at the end is a bitch! My goal was a sub 6:00...if only by a minute....I wanted a 5 on the clock. But, I am not unhappy. Exact opposite. I am very happy! Mentally I am solid. The stomach problems messed with me and made me question my ability. But, knowing I had to pull out a 2 hour half marathon propelled me forward. I did well. I can do better. I will do better. And in a few months...I will be an Irongirl......but, I want to represent! So, I have hired a coach.

  • Comments: Great race. I like the run course much better this year though wasn't a big fan of the cross country/uneven terrain on the backside. Having cheering crowd was good. The race was much larger this year, which added to the excitement. I would definitely do the race again and would recommend the race to friends. The after party seemed a little better than 2009 as well. I would probably stay at the resort next year too.

  • Comments: This is the first year that I have done this race and my 3rd HIM for the year. I did not finish the first and 7:30 on the second and here I was 6:19 so I guess you can say that I was very happy about the race> That time does not include the 4min penalty by the way. I did like the cours and the 3 loop run because it is nice to see people on the run and not just out in no mans land. All though the swim was cold and the bike was even colder I would say that I will try this race again next year. It is very well organized and small and it plays to the locals very well. The price of the race is great and I will see yall next year.

  • Comments: I will do another 70.3 but I promised myself out there I would not race in this physical condition again. I am ready to sign up for 2011! I also had THE best cheering section, they were LOUD, had great signs and were super cute too.

  • Comments: Really enjoyed the race location and convenience of staying at the resort hotel. Everything was very well organized and the volunteers were excellent. When I checked results soon after the race I was not listed. Went and talked with timing personnel and they did not have my run time. They quickly made the adjustment and posted the corrected results. I was impressed with their willingness to work so quickly to rectify this-especially since I wasn't in line for an award and they were still working the finish.

  • Comments: Great race, great first HIM experience. They started a little late just because of the fog, which was a good call on their part. I wish they had more than one port-a-potty at the hand ups on the bike course.

  • Comments: I liked the race, well organized. I would prefer an out and back or single loop run course, but defintely no more grassy slopes or gravel.

  • Comments: Really thought this was a well run race. My only criticism is that one of the bottles I was handed on the bike still had the foil on it! I had to rip it open with my teeth and ended up spilling half the bottle on my bike. Otherwise it's a great course and a good location. A little chilly at the beginning of the bike, but otherwise the weather was perfect!
