Swim
Comments: A poor swim. Since I did not warm-up, the first half of the swim it felt like my breathing was out of control. For almost the entire swim, I never felt like I was in a good groove with my strokes either. Transition 1
Comments: Very smooth T1. It was nice to be at the end of my rack which was the 2nd from the Bike Exit. Bike
Comments: Very good ride. Fastest average speed ever in a triathlon, and not because I was being pushed along by a tailwind either. There was actually very little wind at all in any direction. Transition 2
Comments: No perfectly smooth. I had to turn my bike around and back it in to rack it. Run
Comments: I wore my Garmin this time so I was able to maintain a very consistent pace. My pre-race target was loosely 7:00 put once I got started I realized that keeping it under 7:10 was a much more manageable pace. What would you do differently?: I probably could have gone a little faster on the last mile. I still need to be reminded how painful 5K's should be. Post race
Warm down: Cooled off in the finishers area and then headed over to the splash pad with the family. What limited your ability to perform faster: Mediocre swim Event comments: An excellent, well-organized race. I can't think of any flaws with the race organization. Everything was on-time, the courses were good, and there were plenty of volunteers. Last updated: 2012-07-16 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:15, took a shower, and had rice porridge for breakfast. Left the house at about 5:15. Easy drive down to Pearland.
Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to do a warm-up swim.
