Swim
Comments: Felt pretty decent on the swim...knowing it was so short helped. Tried to do a better job of getting some better breaths early on so that I didn't run out of air. Swim was pretty good overall, just had to deal with a few folks swimming at some serious angles in front of me, so I had to stop/start a few times. What would you do differently?: Maybe figure out how to get into a less congested area. Also, think about breathing twice to the same side rather than breathing deeper to catch my breath. Transition 1
Comments: Times weren't given for transitions, but I felt like this was one of my better transitions in recent memory. Had the setup well laid out and I think kneeling to put on the socks was a good technique. No major issues here. Bike
Comments: Since T1 was included in this time, I probably made up some time here on people wearing wetsuits with my good transition. Legs felt pretty tired almost immediately on the bike but felt a little better as the HR dropped and legs loosened up a bit. Transition 2
Comments: Again, no time, but felt pretty good in T2 as well. No time for a stretch given the length of the race, but the calved weren't too tight on the way out, which was good. Run
Comments: Didn't have a ton left here given the long workouts of the past 2 days, and the initial hills definitely was a tough one. Legs felt alright once loosening up a bit, they just didn't have that extra gear today. Post race
Warm down: Got a massage after crossing the line, but ended up feeling pain in my back when I got off the table that I didn't feel when getting on. Walked around a bit and then stretched further once Lore finished. What limited your ability to perform faster: 2 long workouts on the previous 2 days. Also, the swim seems to be getting worse, not better, though this effort overall was better than the last 2. Event comments: Decent little race, but could use a few things before it would be more highly rated. Race started late and then everyone seemed rushed (with a number of people complaining about getting the wrong cap, etc.) and the bike course was pretty rough. Nice transition venue however and volunteers seemed very willing to help. Nice finisher medal and packet pickup the previous day was very smooth. Last updated: 2012-07-17 12:00 AM

Up at 5:15, got the bikes on the car, and then ate a bagel with PB before leaving for the race around 6:00. Arrived on site, setup transition, and waited for the start.
No warm-up. Beginning of the race was a little disorganized, with athletes being told to be in transition for a meeting at 7:45 which didn't happen until the race should have started pretty much around 8:00. Race probably didn't start until closer to 8:15. Also, swim waves didn't enter the water until right before they went off, so no time for a warm-up few strokes in the water.
