Pre-race routine:

Well, I got there an hour early, but my front tire was flat. I had no spare (will have 2 next time). A great guy helped me out. I had 10 minutes, which I used to stretch and test out the bike. Spent the rest of the time figuring out how the course was laid out, etc.
Event warmup:

Stretched and did a light jog and a bike check.
Swim
  • 17m 14s
  • 805 meters
  • 02m 08s / 100 meters
Comments:

Pretty Crazy layout. Not sure I can fully comment b/c of it being my first tri, however there has to be a better way to avoid confusion.
What would you do differently?:

Find a better spot to start from (I was right in the middle). Need to practice more in open water b/c I kept going crooked.
Transition 1
  • 04m 26s
Comments:

My time here wasn't as bad as it looks. Since this was my first Tri, me and my other first timer decided to wait for each other. At least 2 minutes of this time was waiting for him. Ironically, I would have placed in my age group if I didn't wait....live and learn.
What would you do differently?:

Definitely need a new set up in Transition area. I had my sunglasses in a bag and only one towel. Next time I will make sure and take off goggles, cap and top during run to T1, not wait for anyone, and have two towels.
Bike
  • 36m 47s
  • 12 miles
  • 19.57 mile/hr
Comments:

Was extremely happy with my ride. I may have went a little too hard, b/c my transition to run took awhile. The pace was great, passed a good number of people and felt solid the whole ride.
What would you do differently?:

I need to do a better job of shifting gears, and properly placing food/drink.
Transition 2
  • 01m 7s
Comments:

This result was fantastic for a first time tri guy, with not much biking experience.
What would you do differently?:

Shift down earlier on hills. Pace a little bit better to make the run easier
Run
  • 26m 34s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

The run started very slowly for me as my left foot was numb from biking and my quads were sore, too. After the first mile, however, I started getting into a good pace.
What would you do differently?:

More Bricks. Continue speed work.
Post race
Warm down:

I warmed down very easily. Makes me think I could have went harder on the run.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Transition times were slow. Changing from bike to run needs work.

Event comments:

This was my first race ever, but the race seemed to be run fairly OK. I think they needed more volunteers for sure.
