  • Comments: after reading the comments on this event, i feel compelled to post an alternate perspective on the experience. for context, this was only the 2nd tri i have ever competed in, the first being 5+ years ago. starting time: i participated in the super-sprint event. according the starting schedules which were posted in the packet pickup/registration area the night before the event, my distance would be the last to start, scheduled for 7:15AM. while i don't know the exact time we were sent into the water, i exited the water at 7:22, and my swim took me just over 6 minutes. this puts the starting time somewhere between 7:15-6. i'm not sure how the other distances could have started 20 minutes late as reported...as they all went before me, the first being sent off at 7:03, just after the adventure race began, and as scheduled. we (super-sprint) were the last in the water...and we were sent right on time. bike course markings: the super-sprint and sprint distances shared the same

  • Comments: The event was poorly managed. The race started late because they were not set up on time. Weather was threatening at first and we missed a good window to start. Not to mention the body cooled down waiting. The bike course was marked okay for sprint, but many oly riders made wrong turns and put on additional mileage. The run was awful with people running all different ways on the loop. However, it was my first tri and I actually placed in my age group. That really pumped me up, even though I only got a hat, and got me super excited about this whole triathlon thing.

  • Comments: Good race although I heard that the Olympic distance had more trouble this year with the signage and people getting lost. Sprint distance didn't have that trouble until the run which was not marked properly on one turn sending some people one way and others a different way (b/c of 1 mi loop I don't think it made much difference in the overall distance)...since it was my first triathlon, I have to rate it a "5" (best) because I don't know any better, but it seemed perfect for my first triathlon. Exceeded my expectations. Very happy with the effort today and with the race itself.

  • Comments: Frank Dobbs lived up to his reputation. The race started 20 minutes late. He didn't have enough volunteers to guide traffic. The course distances were off. The transition area was unsecure. Its too bad, b/c this could be a good venue. The bike course is very fun.

  • Comments: It was my first and only race of 2006. The swim was not that good and I was not prepared for the lake part. A little disorganized but something to cut my teeth on. I have not gone back to this particular race or venue.

  • Comments: This was my first race ever, but the race seemed to be run fairly OK. I think they needed more volunteers for sure.
