Swim
Comments: I had a good swim. Much better than my previous race. There was a lot of bumping and grinding in the first few hundred yards but that's because of where I positioned myself on the pack. For some reason, I really enjoy being in the middle of a messy start. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: I have a pretty good version of T1 that I practice every Thursday before a race. I did a little slower than usual because of the nasty hill we had to climb to get to T1 after the swim. The organizers should add the time of this climb to T1 and not the swim. Overall Rank: 33/153 What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Tough ride. I got into the aero position and hammered on till the end. Nothing special to report. What would you do differently?: Need to get some power on these legs. I want to start averaging 22-23 mph in these type of courses. Transition 2
Comments: My heart rate was up the roof when I got to T1. Overall Rank: 102/153 What would you do differently?: Need new shoes. My racing flats are so light and soft that they are somewhat hard to put on properly while standing. Therefore, I always sit down. This needs to change. T2 needs work. Run
Comments: This run was really awful for me. Not time-wise, but mentally. I had a nasty fall a few hundred yards after the first aid station. I immediately got up and kept running. I really wanted to push the pace and myself so I decided to run with some guy from another age group who was running slightly faster than I wanted to. We traded leads here and there to keep pushing each other and it worked to perfection (but it was still awful to run that fast on that trail after a fall). What would you do differently?: Not do any faceplants. Post race
Warm down: Congratulated my run pacing buddy followed by massive amounts of water and a Diet Mountain Dew. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training in general. Today, I really felt that I pushed myself to my current physical limits. I just need to increase those limits in training to go faster. Event comments: I can't wait for next year. I really liked the swim. Last updated: 2012-07-30 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30AM had a bowl of oatmeal, a banana, two pieces of toast with peanut butter and drove for about an hour and a half to race site. It was raining like crazy and I thought the swim (or the race) may get cancelled due to thunder and lighting. After getting there, the sky cleared up and the weather was perfect.
Swam to the first sight buoy and back.
