Run
Comments: I had already planned to go at this race easy, just to finalize pace and nutrition for the AF Marathon in two weeks. Turned out to be a wise decision - weather was hot and very humid. About 4 miles in, I began looking like a hydration/sweat laboratory, sweat soaked clothes, dripping hat brim, sluggish sloshy shoes - just pouring off me. It was pretty miserable the last couple miles. Talking with some other locals on the course, everybody was feeling the pain. I've been training in this weather all summer, but today was exceptionally HOT and STICKY! What would you do differently?: Hydration was not a problem but I might take a bit less in. There were plenty of water stations on the course (one about every 1.5 miles). I was taking a cup of gatorade and two cups of water - roughly 10-12 oz each stop. It didn't seem like too much until the last couple stations (those might have actually been closer together). I just started dumping one of the waters on my head and face to keep cool. Post race
Warm down: Cooled down a bit then walked back out a couple miles on the course to bring in the wifey. The we had about a mile walk back to the car... she was not pleased about that :-) What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing - personal decision Event comments: As always this RnR event was well organized and executed.
