Swim
Comments: My first pool tri. What fun. I gotta say the lanes were narrow. The first two laps were fine all by myself. Then I started catching up with people. A little hard to figure out whether to flip or not depending on who you would run into. They asked us our swim times, but didn't seed us that way. Had to run out of building to transition matt. Started 10 people in front os Mike. Ha ha the FISH got a head start. What would you do differently?: Wear jammer into swim then wear tights because of the weather. Only thing that didin't make in the van was the jammers. Goggles leaked a little, 300 yds no big deal. Transition 1
Comments: It was wet and I just sat on the ground. My ass was wet anyhow. Jersey on OK. No mike yet! What would you do differently?: Screw the SOCKS. Why did I try again. Needed the gloves with the rain. Bike
Comments: I was moving right along and it felt good. Passed lots a people on MTN bikes, gave then lots of encouragement. Lot of smiling volunteers. Thanked them a bunch. Three water stations. Didn't stop. It was dirty out there. I hate the taste of dirt on the water bottles. Hard to see through my glasses. Drizzled the whole way. Passed by 3-4 other guys. No Mike yet he had yet to hook this fish. What would you do differently?: Ask for dry weather. Need to get an areo bar bottle, Transition 2
Comments: Should have dumped the socks since they had a pound of water in them. Lots of spectators in the transisition area. Changed jersey to lighter one. Drizzle had let up some. No Mike yet casting a foul line. What would you do differently?: Set up better if hadn't been trying to keep thing half was dry. Run
Comments: CRAP!! My legs felt like lead. Shin splint hurt a lot. The cold wetness was getting to me. 2 miles later my legs decided that they were going to run. Had a good kick home. 3/4 mile in it happened. I felt a sharp pain of foot steps coming up on me. I heard "Ah reeling in a grouper" Ouch Mike had caught me and would soon throw me back into his wake. What would you do differently?: Train more runs and get shin splints under control. Post race
Warm down: Walked around. Grabbed some water off bike and called home. Changed shirt and met up with Mike and Chris. Cheered a few people in. What limited your ability to perform faster: Inability to run well. Wet and cold, the weather made decision poor as far as to what to wear. Letting loose on bike was nerve racking. Event comments: Did really well in the swim and bike. Need to practice transitions. Long lines at start through a lot of people off. When the called for the first 50 swimmers the place went nuts. The more I think about this race the better I feel about it. The run let me down but the rest went very well. Meeting up with BTer and master swimmers from my club was enjoyable. Psyched for the next Tri. Last updated: 2006-06-01 12:00 AM

It was a dark and dank morning. It rained all night. The drizzle was a thick as pea soup. Had a lousy night sleep as usual before a race. I wondered in a blurry eyed state what the heck. Ate a banana and some cookies. Drank about a quart of water/gator. Left for race at 5:30, after throwing every piece of race colthing I owned in the car. Got there at 6:05. The bibs weren't ready. Picked spot for transition, then met up with Mike. M-daddy says it looks like a good day to reel in some FISH! Stood in line as they tried to figure out how to run triathlon. If you registerd late you were in one line if early the other. The problem was the early line had all the bibs and the people at the late table were clueless. They worked it out. Lucky for Mike and I we were an hour on the staggered starts. Sat in a warm car. Reported to pool 20 minutes early. Slipped twice on floor. Met some good people in line.
Stretched out the shoulder some. Took a couple short laps in dive pool.
