Pre-race routine:

Didn't get enough sleep because I was anxious. This was my first race. I ate two bananas in the morning and felt great.
Event warmup:

I did a little bike riding to warm my legs up and I stretched some after I got my transition area sorted out.
Swim
  • 10m 49s
  • 875 yards
  • 01m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

I nailed the swim. I felt like a machine in the water. I never anticipated swimming as well as I did. I found a rhythm and just didn't stop.
What would you do differently?:

I would start stronger. I was nervous for the first 200m or so, but once I got to the first buoy I knew that I could kick up the pace.
Transition 1
  • 06m 9s
Comments:

The transition area was really far away from the water, so it took so long to get there. I hope that I have a closer area for my next one.
What would you do differently?:

I need new pedals on my bike so I can get into them easier. I struggled with getting into them and it slowed me down.
Bike
  • 46m 7s
  • 10 miles
  • 13.01 mile/hr
Comments:

The first 5 miles were good but the back 5 were right into the wind and really difficult. I was starting to get tired, but my goal for the race to not have to stop so I allowed myself to hold back. I was ok with that.
What would you do differently?:

I need to be better on my bike. I need to find ways to get faster on the bike. I felt slow and was constantly passed.
Transition 2
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

I felt good about this transition. I didn't have to change shoes so that helped.
What would you do differently?:

Just get faster.
Run
  • 42m 6s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 13m 35s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

I just need to be better. I'm a slow runner and need to trust that I can make it through a run. I didn't want to stop at all, so I just kept a slow pace. I know I can go faster next time though.

Event comments:

This was the best even to do for my first triathlon. It was such a welcoming, positive environment. I never felt intimidated or alone. It was really wonderful.
