Swim
Comments: this was hrrible - time doesnt count how bad I felt all ten minutes. I nearly quit after first bouy but swam breast stroke for few seconds then sucked it up and carried on. I had to breath every other stroke to get through to end. Wasnt crowded, but just felt uncomfortable breathing. might have been cold shock, or dark water ealy in norning. What would you do differently?: MOre practice in open water - especiallly cold and dark ie early moring swims. Transition 1
Comments: i felt really dizzy! knew this could happen and experienced a little before but this was something else - had to walk and focus but managed to get through it without errors. What would you do differently?: more practice after long OW swims. Bike
Comments: within a few seconds of T1 the dizziness went and focus on task at hand. this was a fun course - had a blast through the first 2.5 - grinning all the way. I took it wasy thru this section as not used to fast turns. on flat could have pushed harder as noticed spinning too easy. At turnaround clipped out and way to slow. What would you do differently?: for an A race remember to push higher gear on bike to keeep avg MPH up. Transition 2
Comments: the approach to the transition was steep, took it easy not to mess up.no real problems. What would you do differently?: keep practicing - nothing new. Run
Comments: legs felt horrible off the bike, remembered previous race that this passes and focus on watch for pace. watch wasnt set up correctly so took a while but then realized I was running at 9:20 target! remembered to run up hills at same RPE which kept HR down nicely. Rememebred to say 'goodjob' to everyone so felt better myself! finished with a good sprint and realized I had plenty left in tank. Then realized I just a full5K without walking - woohoo! What would you do differently?: more brick runs off bike to get comfortable with feeling.noticed I dropped 22 places on the run - for A races need to focus more on running improvement. Post race
Warm down: grabbed a water and snacks then walked about to cool down. Stretched, put on warn clothes the wandered about trying to find familiar faces. Really missed my family and friends who couldnt make this event :-( Ate a burger then went home. What limited your ability to perform faster: this was not an A race but end of season fun approach - need to focus on OWS, running speed and technical ability on bike. Event comments: I heard good things about this event and they were all true - it seemed like the whole LR POA came out to support!! Great execution as usual from FS series. This really is a great race to end season on as long as not an A race! Definitely want to do this next year. Last updated: 2012-09-30 12:00 AM

walk the transition area to familiarize. stayed warm until last minute then changed into wetsuit.Drank water and clif bar then GU gel 15 mins prior and more water.
first time with wetsuit and open water in race so jumped in and swan a few yards. First impression was a shock - never felt this before and started to panic. calmed myself down and stayed in water as long as possible to get used to temperature.
