Comments: Didn't eat gels until mile 9 and noticed increased performance during most brutal part of race. Was able to pass about 20 people after that. What would you do differently?: Bring my own Hammer Gel w caffeine and take it every 30 min. Train more on trails and hills. Not party hard 2 days before race Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Being a beginner, overweight, partying too much on Friday, not eating gels during race Event comments: Gnarly steep hiils, probably walked 4 miles of this. Probably won't do it again, just not my cup of tea. However, it was super beautiful and scenic for sure, especially the hardest section Mile 9-11 streams gurgling, ferns, gulches, very cool experience for sure. I just felt like I was one of the last runners, I am so slow but steady. At the end I passed a lot of people who were just walking.
