Swim
Comments: I really need to step up my swim. I always feel fresh out of the water, but I really need to be a swimmer that puts a better effort of being faster. I just don't like it that much. I felt comfortable in the water just slow. What would you do differently?: Be a better swimmer. Transition 1
Comments: Wetsuit strippers were great. I did not hide a pair of shoes, but I did wear the Blue Seventy booties which helped alot on the long transition run. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: I really enjoyed the bike course. This is a course where the trainer really helps because if you stop pedaling you pretty much stop moving. I always feel lucky when I don't flat because I always seem to see a couple and it really does add to the time and anxiety of the race What would you do differently?: Train harder! Transition 2
Comments: It got a little congested in the shoot with the half distance folks going a little slow, but the volunteers really kept things moving and did a great job. What would you do differently?: Practice dimounting with my shoes on the pedals, so I can perform a faster dismount. Run
Comments: Felt pretty good on the run. As I would get a cramp, I just slowed my pace and was able to carry on without stopping. What would you do differently?: More run training. Post race
Warm down: Got under a space blanket and ate pizza. Then went back to the Hilton for a shower. Went back out and ate again. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not getting an overtaking penalty. I remeber when it was, but I was technically at fault. Learn for next time. Event comments: This is my second time doing this race, and I really like the new course lay out. This is a spectacular race, and I will probably try it again next year. Woke up at 3:00 am ate a bagel with Netella, 2 packets of oatmeal and 1 banana. Got on the trolley at the hotel and froze my way to transition 1. All in all, it was an uneventful calm morning.
Stood around in the water and made sure my goggles were wetand adjusted. Water felt great.
