Swim
Comments: This was the WORST swim of my life - I really mean that. The swell was quite strong and there was just a roller-coaster + washing machine effect. I wanted to quit about half way. I couldn't get a clear line to swim - kept getting swum over or across or I kept running into people. I hated this swim with a passion. To top it all off, my swim cap pinged off about 100m before the shore/finish. So I had to swim with cap in hand which was just ineffective. What would you do differently?: Not swim? Start out wide away from everyone else and stay there! Transition 1
Comments: They moved the timing mat for the end of the swim and start of transition. It was pretty much at the very end of the swim, so T1 time includes the run up the infamous Sandy hill climb. Hence my long long transition. What would you do differently?: Nothing. It was fine. Bike
Comments: The forecast said "clearing showers"... well, let's just say OUCH. Stinging rain at the southern end of the course that was practically torrential. Ow ow ow ow ow!! But I had a good ride overall. Actually, my time is awesome - fastest 40k ever for me - esp. given the conditions. What would you do differently?: Absolutely nothing. Transition 2
Comments: All good. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Much much better than last year. I walked twice (at the top of that hill climb x 2). I didn't tip any water over my head this time because it gave me blisters on my feet last year. What would you do differently?: Not much, really. I felt a strange combination of over and undertrained going into this. Over-trained when it comes to overall training time and yet undertrained in the run leg. Only run 2 10km since Shepp (Nov). Post race
Warm down: Not much. Should have done more. What limited your ability to perform faster: It was TTOM - day 1 - and that was ugly. Event comments: SuperSprint seemed very disorganised this time. Start times ran late by 15min. The bag compound line was enormous (because they are implementing a new system). There was no banana in the show bag which I thought was really poor - given that we'd done an OD. The Athena presentation only included first place because 2nd and 3rd hadn't crossed the finish line by the time they printed the results (very poor). So, while I was happy about the fact that I took 3mins off my overall time, rode my quickest 40k and sliced my run time, I came away from the event rather disappointed. And don't worry, I've let SuperSprint know all of this via email feedback. Last updated: 2012-11-24 12:00 AM

Got there nice and early. Spent a very long time lining up for the bag compound. Had to weigh in. All good.
Wanted to practice swim but when I got down to the water, I knew that all I wanted to do was GO HOME. It was a nightmare out there.
