Run
Comments: Beautiful day. I started in wave 1 at 7:30am. The sun was just coming up. There was beautiful hoar frost on all the trees. Great course. Lots of volunteers, course was well marked, and a fantastic breakfast after the run. Wave 1: started at 7:30am. 192 runners Wave 2: started at 8:45am. 214 runners Wave 3: started at 10:00am. 139 runners What would you do differently?: I did not drink or eat anything on the course. I felt a bit of a sag at mile 10 or so. I should have grabbed a drink and some GU at mile 10 aid station. But, I was fighting off some runners so I didn't want to stop. My pace didn't suffer, but I felt it. Post race
Warm down: Stretching. Getting out of my cold and damp clothes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Snow and ice on the trails. It was a bit slippery in sections. Also, there were a lot of runners on the trails. The trails were narrow, so it was difficult to pass at the start. Once it thinned out then I could maintain a good steady pace. Event comments: The after race breakfast was fantastic. Huge selection of fruit. They had salads. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cubed potatoes, french toast, pastries. Coffee, tea, orange juice. Very nice finishers medal. No chip timing, but finish line was well staffed. Last updated: 2012-11-29 12:00 AM
